Then, for some strange reason, this author refuses to state that the Senate acquitted Pres. Trump of all of that very charge and that the Constitution deals with such acquittals by providing that after a conviction following an impeachment, the impeached and convicted president can then be tried in any relevant court for the offenses of which he was convicted. Thus the inevitable implication is that, since Pres. Trump was acquitted, he can't be prosecuted in any court for the alleged offenses of which he was acquitted.
Ok, it might be a bad thing or our “democracy”, but it would be a great thing for our Republic.

2. Was the riot on January 6, 2021, an insurrection? Three contemporary courts have ruled it was: district courts in New Mexico and Colorado and the Colorado Supreme Court. The House January 6th Committee report refers to that day’s events as an insurrection 78 times. Several other congressional documents do the same.On top of that, throw in that twit Maine Secretary of State who also decided it an insurrection and tried to disqualify Trump and a similar move that failed in Illinois.
So for this author and the left, anyone can declare January 6 an insurrection for the purposes of declaring Trump ineligible to be President. Somehow, the same could not be done concerning the eligibility of Obama. Then it was a matter beyond mere mortals to decide.
There’s no drama with this. The Colorado Supreme Court is entirely Democrat-appointed, all seven are Democrats. Yet they could only muster a 4-3 decision. No way a more balanced or right-leaning court goes along with it.

If Trump is thrown off the ballot, politicians will start to be thrown off the ballot left and right everywhere.
The same part of the constitution that is being discussed disqualifies anyone who provides aid and comfort to our enemies..
