I was just looking at that. Isn’t this a big one by Hawaii standards?
Is that the sea mount off the coast of the big island that you are referring to?
Is that in the place of the earth quake swarms?
5.7 would get your attention wherever you are.
There sure have been a lot of earthquakes on the Pacific perimeter lately.

Just got a little jolt here in SoCal as I was reading this. My monitor was shaking.
There are about 1000 earthquakes between 5 and 5.9 every year.
I think we shouldn’t post those below 6 unless there is some special reason.
Earthquakes below 7.6 usually don’t make destructive tsunamis unless they trigger a massive landslide into the ocean
I live in Honolulu. It was barely felt here. I didn’t notice (had a week of high winds with more rattle), but hubby noticed a book shelf rattle (He works where there is no wind and was home today, so for him it was different). There were 8 aftershocks ranging from 2.5-3.4. It seems to be all over now. FYI, the epicenter seems to be near where Loihi(has a newer and longer name now) is currently growing into a new island ... Wait for it in about 50,000 years.

I generally agree. This one is interesting because it shows in real time how the whole Hawaiian arc developed, with the hot spot “moving” from the active Mauna Loa to the more recent, off shore volcano.
This earthquake swarm is about halfway between the two volcanos, and one of several swarms recorded in the last century or so.
Not felt in Wahiawa... At least by me...
So, I WASN’T the only one that felt that tiny shake..
Nope, apparently hubby did too. I felt nothing. Did you feel any of the aftershocks? Neither of us did.
Dakine said they didn’t feel it in Wahiawa (I think). Ima in Hawaii Kai.
I didn’t feel the aftershock(s), unless what I did feel was one.
I am in Waikiki (Ala Moana Blvd), and the slight shift of the foundation (small clicking sound), then a couple of small shakes actually woke me up (was half-asleep, lol).
But, I am used to earthquakes after living so long in Japan (it was an almost daily thing, at least weekly).
Maybe the spirit of Aloha wasn’t pleased with the Hawaii Supreme Court’s Second Amendment ruling after all.
