Only a few decades ago, no matter in which state you lived in the U.S., you could at least be assured you lived in a free country. Not anymore.
People are going to have to flee their communist states and move to a free one to get the boot of the government off their neck. Did the state not investigated the couple prior to placing foster children in their home? It appears the children were already "registered". They were registered with the state as foster children. How much good did that do for them?
If the parents here committed criminal actions, then charge them with those crimes. If the agency staff were negligent, charge them as well. But, don't punish other parents who had nothing to do with those actions. Home-schooling is not in and of itself a criminal act.

How long ‘til they’re taxed, in a new and special way, for home schooling?

So they can throw you in jail if you do not put your kids in public INDOCTRINATION.
Free speech and choice right?

How much good did that do for them? My granddaughter worked as a psychological counselor for a state agency where she evaluated prospective foster parents. She once said that many of these people shouldn't be allowed to even be parents, much less foster parents.

Don’t these idiots know that children are God’s creation . . .given to parents on loan from Him to raise them in the admonition of the Lord. I don’t think the government qualifies to have their hands on them at all . . . how would you like to have some of these legislators for parents? This is last days “lock-in-step” stuff.

“called for stricter government regulation and oversight”
This is a reason why people choose to homeschool. The government has done such a great job with their own schools /sarc.

The filthy bastards hate it when people try to escape their iron grip on our minds. Registry leads to total control, with the end goal being taking away the kids from parents who don't bow down and worship the sacred cow of wokeism.

And this will be the verdict of EVERY case where the state takes the children from the parents- They will accuse the parent of something and claim that homeschooling was to blame-

It is actions like this that have made me decide it is time to end government controlled compulsory schooling. If a local government wants to provide schools attendance should be voluntary and contractual with parents being involved with every aspect from school hours to curriculum.
It is getting harder and harder to claim the current government controlled model of schooling is a public good.

In my small-town, small county in Michigan there are a lot of home school families. I've had up close and personal interactions with said families and have a few observations. One; the children of parents or more accurately the moms, who are themselves educated and intelligent fare much better in their education, two; the children of the less than intelligent parent well not so much. I wouldn't let some of those moms teach my dog to sit let alone teach a child, thirdly; once these children reach their teen years, more than a few of them, especially the boys, beg their parents to let them attend school. My observation has been that the parents who let their kids attend school end up with happier teens and a better relationship. I have seen the opposite with the parents who dig in their heels and refuse and end up with rebellious teens who hate them and never darken the door of a church again once they hit 18.

Probably because Hillsdale has a popular homeschooling curriculum.
