Howard Dean: Biden ‘Moving’ to Israel Position ‘More to the Liking of Arab Americans’
Breitbart ^ | 02/13/2024 | IAN HANCHETT

Posted on 02/13/2024 5:58:55 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

On Monday’s broadcast of “CNN NewsNight,” former DNC chair and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean stated that while he admires President Joe Biden approaching foreign policy based on what’s best for the country, “I do think, however, that he is moving towards a position” that is “probably more to the liking of Arab Americans.”

Dean said, “I think Netanyahu has always tried to push things his way. I think relationships with the United States, particularly with the Democrats, started to slide downhill when Netanyahu addressed the Congress at the invitation of the Republicans without bothering to consult with President Obama, and there’s been bad blood ever since. Netanyahu is, in my view, sort of Trump with brains, very clever, very cunning, always interested in Netanyahu, and I think he’s pursuing these measures principally because he’s worried about his ratings, which have gone into the toilet. But he’s a less and less reliable, ally, I think.”

“But he’s a less and less reliable, ally, I think.”

Dean is speaking about Netanyahu being an less an ally to the USA, but the truth is Biden has made the USA a less reliable ally to Israel and Taiwan.

Wow!!!

Jaw dropping.

It is with Israel that we actually DO have three security agreements and a SOFA.

It is Israel that actually is a democracy, unlike that faux BS in Ukraine where we pick and choose all the folks in top positions.

It is Israel that actually is sovereign.

It was Israel that actually was attacked, unprovoked (again for real, not like Ukraine where we poked the Russians in the eye repeatedly and then throw this term around).

It is Hamas that actually did kidnap civilians, kill woman and children...

Israel is the ONLY true constitutional republic in that region. Israel is a state that was created out of the injustices committed on Jews in Europe and elsewhere over the millennia. We helped create this nation.

***And here we are, backing off from Israel and the rationale, “DEMOGRAPHICS.”

There are a lot of Arab Americans today!

Thank you Howard Dean for explaining where you and your party stand.

Every argument we use for supporting Ukraine actually applies to Israel but isn’t real for Ukraine.

Ukraine isn’t a democracy.

Ukraine isn’t sovereign.

Ukraine has a horrible human rights record.

Israel is a democracy.

Israel is sovereign.

Israel does follow laws and respects human rights.

Ukraine was attacked unprovoked. We and Ukraine have been poking the Russians in the eyes for years: NATO expansion, ballistic missile treaty, Montreux convention violations, Minsk violations... And then we call in “unprovoked.”

Israel WAS attacked unprovoked. They in fact were loosening some of the rules and restrictions, making movement easier etc. when Hamas attacked.

Russia didn’t kidnap civilians, rape, and execute them. Hamas has.

And here we are backpedaling on Israel.

Goes to show, all that really matters is money and political power. So called “principals” which politicians like McConnell address in his argument for support of Ukraine are meaningless fluff. These are arguments used when convenient.

***Israel is the ONLY true constitutional republic in that region***

FWIW, The Jewish State of Israel does not have a constitution and is a Theocracy where the right to national self-determination is reserved for the Jewish people, only.

Final text of Jewish nation-state law, approved by the Knesset early on July 19
By RAOUL WOOTLIFF, 18 July 2018, 2:45 pmUpdated: 19 July 2018

Knesset members approved overnight Wednesday-Thursday a controversial and long-debated law that officially defines Israel as the Jewish nation-state, voting the bill through in its second and third plenary readings by 62-55, with two abstentions.

The law for the first time enshrines Israel as “the national home of the Jewish people.” The law becomes one of the so-called Basic Laws, which, like a constitution, guide Israel’s legal system and are usually more difficult to repeal than regular laws.

What follows is a full translation of the final version of the bill approved by the Knesset plenary:

Basic Law: Israel as the Nation State of the Jewish People

1 — Basic principles

A. The land of Israel is the historical homeland of the Jewish people, in which the State of Israel was established.

B. The State of Israel is the national home of the Jewish people, in which it fulfills its natural, cultural, religious and historical right to self-determination.

C. The right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.

They call it something else, but it’s the same thing. They understood the importance of such a framework.

An agreement between the people and the government, where certain rights of the people are guaranteed.

Israel also has Droids, Christians... While people call it a “Jewish State,” as you do, they have no official state religion.

There is a heavy dose of secularism in Israel, as this state has a lot of less than devout former eastern Europeans that were influenced by the socialist movements. Even the idea of a kibbutz is basically a communist commune.

Arab Israeli’s comprise one the the fastest growing demographics, and you have them in the Knesset: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Arab_members_of_the_Knesset

How many Coptic Christians are in top positions in Egypt? If a Coptic Christian girl is kidnapped to be married off to a Muslim, do you think the authorities in Egypt try very hard to find her? If the Copts want to build or even renovate a church, do you think the authorities make if easy for them?

Point being: Israel is a bubble of western values and culture, a liberal (classic meaning) society, ruled by laws and with a democratic process while none of their neighbors are not like that.

Israel does not have a "Constitution" --- which, by our definition, is the law of the land. Changing the Constitution is an arduous, years long process involving the Federal government and the States and requiring a super-majority.

At its founding, Israel rejected a Constitution and opted for designated "Basic Laws" which could be changed, removed or added at any time, with unlimited frequency requiring a majority vote by the Knesset seated in the moment.

Don't conflate our Constitution with the Israeli fluid, politically motivated process they have chosen.

That is a lie. Israel is (unfortunately) the furthest thing from a Theocracy.

It is a "western" style secular "democratic" republic with a president, a prime minister, and a parliament (the Knesset). Moreover it is full of Arabs (both moslem and chrstian), Druze, foreign workers, and non-Jews (many of them anti-Semites) from Russia who managed to legally into this "Jewish only" country.

Do you honestly think a Jewish Theocracy would tolerate "pride" parades? You probably do. You probably believe they are mandated by the Talmud.

Did you support Rhodesia? What's the difference?

Have you ever read the Bible? Have you ever heard of it?

Also untrue. Israel's constitution is the Torah (the only constitution in the world actually written by G-d). Unfortunately the State of Israel doesn't follow it.

No,

Your being specific to the point of ridiculous. Declaring anything other than exactly what we have as not being ruled by a foundational law.

A constitution is in its most basic principal a contract between the people and their government, in how that government runs and what rights the people have. Israel has that. It might not be called exactly what we call it, and the process and procedures might not be exactly the same.

Jordon: king (good king, nice king, but a king)
Egypt: military shadow government
Saudi Arabia: king
Turkey: dictatorship (de facto)
Syria: dictator
Lebanon: hybrid regime with theocratic aspects.
UAE: tribal autocracy
Qatar: semi-constitutional monarchy
...

Israel is a bubble.

They are culturally and politically more like the Euros and then us. But they are entirely UNLIKE their neighbors.

It is not *me* calling Israel a Jewish State, the state itself does. With the passage of the Nation State law in 2018, Israel has not only a national religion, but culture and rights based on it, too.

The State of Israel is the national home of the Jewish people, in which it fulfills its natural, cultural, religious and historical right to self-determination. The right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.
