China need not try to interfere with the 2024 election. Joe Biden has partnered with the Communist China owned TikTok.

TikTok is a data mining operation masquerading as social media. Consumer Reports:

A Consumer Reports investigation finds that TikTok, one of the country’s most popular apps, is partnering with a growing number of other companies to hoover up data about people as they travel across the internet. That includes people who don’t have TikTok accounts.

A ban on TikTok in the United States or a sale of the app by its Chinese owner, ByteDance, will not resolve national security concerns or fears TikTok could be used to siphon Americans' data, according to a new cybersecurity report obtained by ABC News.

Cybersecurity experts have warned Australian TikTok users that the Chinese government could use the app to harvest personal information, from in-app messages with friends to precise device locations.

The warnings follow a report by Australian-US cybersecurity firm Internet 2.0, which found the most popular social media app of the year collects “excessive” amounts of information from its users.

US Federal Agencies have expressed deep concerns about TikTok. Christopher Wray, 11/22:

“We do have national security concerns, obviously from the FBI’s end, about TikTok,”

Sen, Tom Cotton:

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., has also called for a nationwide ban on TikTok, saying last month that the CEO is "lying" about the app being safe for users.  "We should ban it," Hawley previously told Fox News' Sean Hannity. "It tracks everything you do on your phone. It tracks everywhere you go, every text message you send, every email you write, and it's — all that information — all of it's available to the Chinese Communist Party."

This is the perfect venue for Joe Biden to transmit information the CCP. After all, the Biden family has taken in $31 million from China. They clearly were expecting something in return. It seems reasonable to think China would love to see Biden for another four years.

“Data mining” isn’t as big a threat as data aggregation.

The big tech companies as well as the old sector utilities and commerce have been selling your data for decades, and there are other tech companies that buy it up and put it all together, all specifically to be able to keep and sell entire profiles on people.

The buyers (and the sellers) aren’t all just using it for marketing purposes either.

This stuff isn’t new. “Cambridge Analytica” sound familiar to anyone? They were building political profiles on people and got caught doing it. They are just the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot of entities, including state actors, who are a lot better at this stuff who don’t get caught.

Who actually thinks the likes of China or North Korea or Russia or Iran wouldn’t love to get terabytes of data on American citizens?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the deep state is only worried about catholics and (legal) gun owners.

I don’t understand the overreaction.

Despite what they tell you, all ‘apps’ gather data. If there is terabytes of data out there to get, that means our government already has access to it. Since that data is on servers connected to the internet, it is accessible by foreign countries, as the internet is world-wide.

Trying to shut down TIK-TOK is like shutting the barn door after all the horses have run away.

I wasn't talking about "our government". Our government doesn't have to aggregate data on its citizens. They don't have to buy it. They already have it all. Granted, there probably should be some level of separation and access limitation, but personally I think it's naive to expect that. All that stuff was an illusion way before the days of the patriot act.

It doesn't bother you at all that foreign governments, their fronts and NGOs, or even malicious or terrorist organizations could know more about you than you do, and for price? We are getting to the point where it's more than just who you bank with, what your medical records say about you, or how you vote. We are talking about genomic and bio-metric data, and everyone who you are linked to through social media, and all their records, cell tower ping locations, travel habits, etc. etc. etc.

There isn't even any pretense for protecting citizens from exploitation. If you have your identity stolen, it's "Boo hoo, too bad, so sad. Go pay someone to clean it up for you", even though almost everyone who was supposed to be protecting your privacy (from your credit score company all the way to your health care service provider) have all been hacked.
