Heavy-duty nail guns are powered buy gunpowder-charged cartridges.
I believe the 17 WSM rimfire cartridge uses shells normally used for nail guns, necked down to .17 cal.

An air-powered staple gun can drive 4-inch staples that nail 2x4s together. I would think a battery-powered version could do the same. I bet that’s what they mean.
