The Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas released body camera videos one week after a woman was shot by deputies after allegedly being mistaken for an intruder.
On Feb. 3, deputies responded to a burglary at the Pines of Woodforest Apartments in the Cloverleaf area at about 2 a.m.
The caller spoke with our sister station, ABC13 Eyewitness News in Houston, last week, saying he wishes he hadn't reported the suspected break-in, considering what happened next.
"I was sitting on my couch, and I just started hearing glass breaking," Mitchell said. "I heard [the sheriff's office] knock on the door, nobody responded, and then maybe five seconds later, I heard a gun."
Asst. Chief Tommy Diaz said deputies saw the apartment window broken, knocked, and announced their presence, but as they stepped away from the entrance, an armed woman could be seen through the window approaching the door.
Seconds later, deputies fired multiple rounds, striking 28-year-old Eboni Pouncy who shares the apartment with her girlfriend, but Diaz said she wasn't an intruder.

The woman survived. I posted too fast.
Video by itself without commentary:

They were way to quick to fire. Tough circumstance but as they had not identified anyone they had no way of knowing if it was the resident or perpetrator who was armed.
Yes a tough call but the wanted the job, no excuse to be so quick to shoot in that circumstance.
Udderly ridiculous.
I thought you had to be kidding until I watched that video. Unfreaking believable.
How the hell do you defend yourself against such crazies?
They have no idea who else was in the apartment. Or any one behind a wall when they shot that poor woman.
Very stylish.
Yeah boy!
What the hell do you do in that situation? Lie down in a back bedroom as far away from the door as possible, fingers laced over your head and pray they don’t shoot?
There was a guy in a hotel hallway a couple years ago (Las Vegas, I think) that complied with the cops orders to get down and they shot him to death anyway.
I'm not going to answer that.
Better to be safe than sorry. Just in case.
Male deputies will be hung out to dry shooting a woman mistaken to be intruder.
Female deputies will stay deputies, no negative consequences.
If reversed,
Male deputies would not be hung out to dry shooting a male (unless gay/trans) mistaken to be intruder, maybe a write-up in the file.
Female deputies would stay deputies, no negative consequences.
“They have no idea who else was in the apartment. Or any one behind a wall”
Exact reasons NOT TO SHOOT.
“THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING is that our deputies went home safely that night.”
Daniel Shaver, Mesa, Arizona.
In January 2016, Mesa police Officer Philip Brailsford shot and killed the 26-year-old Shaver after barking conflicting commands at the terrified man in a hotel hallway for several minutes. Bodycam footage later released of the Texas visitor begging for his life before he was shot went viral.
1) All guns are always loaded.
2) Never let the muzzle point at anything that you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot.
4) Be sure of your target and what is behind it.
Not so sure about that. This was SO flagrant, I figure they are done for.
And the victim survived. I wonder what they were shooting at?
Go cyclic until slides lock back after 17 rounds each. And they wounded her only. Utter incompetence.
You go girls!
I know I’m gonna get in trouble. But two women locked out of an apartment. So they break glass, at night, looking 100% like burglars. Then they send two skinny young female cops.
Merriment ensues.
There must be a common thread going to judgement under stress.
I know it’ll come to me..
