The White House on Thursday bashed Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for starting the House recess without bringing the Senate-passed Ukraine aid package to the floor for a vote.
The Senate early Tuesday approved a bipartisan funding measure providing aid to Ukraine, Israel and other allies with 70 votes.
But Johnson says the Senate bill lacks the tougher border security measures demanded by House Republicans and that he won’t move it in the lower chamber.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates argued in a memo, first obtained by The Hill, that Johnson is cutting and running early to go on recess “instead of ending the harm he’s doing to our national security.”
“Every day that Speaker Johnson causes our national security to deteriorate, America loses. And every day that he puts off a clean vote, congressional Republicans’ standing with the American people plunges,” Bates said. “Running away for an early vacation only worsens both problems.”
House GOP leadership canceled votes for Friday, and the House will return to Washington on Feb. 28 after the President’s Day recess. Bates noted the split out of D.C. also comes days after former Rep. Tom Suozzi (D) won in a New York special election, flipping a GOP-held seat.

Johnson needs to be a broken record on stating how much we have already donated and how much Europe has donated. Until we get an accounting there should be no more money.

Speaker Johnson should respond with an Amendment DEFUNDING the Dept of Education to PAY for it.

I was for helping Ukraine and opposing Russia’s invasion, but it’s clear that the money we have spent was to little effect, especially in light of the Biden administration’s inability to even spell out what our goals are there. At this point, any continued financing of this quagmire is just killing off thousands of people on both sides for nothing. Time to reach some kind of agreement.

Polls of Independent voters indicate they do not want money spent on foreign wars or foreign aid.
This is a winning issue for Republicans.
They need to let the Democrats choke on it.

The measure can come up for a vote when the border is closed.
The border was not proven to be a losing issue by the NY special election. That district voted Biden by 8% and Santos ran as a gay.
The US, nor Europe, has anything Russia wants or needs. The US has oil and Russia has production capacity 3X its own consumption so it does not need US oil. Europe’s only oil is in Norway and Russia has far more than that.
What Europe does have is Muslim refugees and Russia has no desire for those.
The demonization of Russia is silly, and a grave error. We will need their oil someday. Certainly their gas.

I got into it with a low-IQ “Walmart People” old lady in the checkout line today, who said we need to help Ukraine before America.
There was a local newspaper with a story about a county here and school vouchers. She believes “school vouchers” are what allow kids to get free meals at school. Totally retarded. She loves Biden.

Biden spends most of his time on vacation and naps. He has no problem with terrorists of all stripes walking across our border. He feeds them, gives them phones, and cash.
So WH, I don’t want to hear none of this crap. Ukraine is not important to national security.
