Judge fines Donald Trump more than $300 million, bars him from running businesses in N.Y. for three years

The judge who presided over a civil business fraud trial against Donald Trump and his company has issued his decision in the case.

Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the former president and the Trump Organization to pay over $364 million in damages, and bars Trump "from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years."

The judgment is the second this year against Trump after he was hit last month with an $83.3 million verdict in writer E. Jean Carroll's defamation case against him. The former president could also face four criminal trials this year as his presidential campaign barrels toward the November election, with the first set to begin in New York state court on March 25th.

New York Attorney General Letitia James had been seeking $370 million from Trump, his company and its top executives, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, alleging "repeated and persistent fraud" that included falsifying business records and financial statements. James had argued those financial statements were at times exaggerated by as much as $2.2 billion.

Trump losing cases like this go back nearly 50 years.

It’s ridiculous to assume the only fair judgements are the cases he wins.

He’s previously claimed to have 400-some million in cash available. Between this and the Carroll judgment, he would need all of that and more. He or somebody else could post a bond, but they’d be making what amounts to a half billion dollar+ bet that he would win on appeal. I don’t know that anyone else would be willing to step up to do that for him.

Easy. Set up a webpage requesting $36.40 from 10,000,000 US citizens. Make sure to write in the memo: IRS exclusionary gift tax 2024.

Hell, I'd donate $364.00.

“I shall not be surprised that this doesn’t get corrected until it reaches Federal court, and depending on who the Federal Judges are for that area, probably not even then.”

It never will see federal court. There’s no federal law at issue, and unless you can come up with a constitutional argument that I can’t, there’s nothing for the Supreme Court (which is the only federal court it could theoretically see in five or six years) to take.

Well if he has been losing utterly corrupt lying cases for 50 years, than the problem with corrupt, lying, criminal Judges has been needing to be addressed for a long time.

It’s ridiculous to assume the only fair judgements are the cases he wins.

I disagree. With the entire bastardized judiciary out to get him, he is only going to get fair judgements when he wins. I will now no longer entertain *ANY* accusations against him. So far as i'm concerned, anyone making accusations against him is a liar. They've had too many bites at this apple, and it has always proven to be just lies, lies, lies.

This Judge needs to be dragged out into the street and beaten. He is a piece of sh*t, and I regard him as a Nazi criminal. This judge needs to go to prison.

Did everyone laugh?

Do these people not understand how ridiculous they are making themselves look?

There’s no federal law at issue, and unless you can come up with a constitutional argument that I can’t,

Federal election interference, Fifth amendment violation, eight amendment violation, RICO, Denial of civil rights under color of authority.

I can see several arguments.

He will have to post cash or a bond of 120% of the judgment amount in both cases to pursue appeals. Whatever amounts may remain on those judgments once the appeals are done will be paid from that. Carroll will likely end up getting something from that, as will NY State.

I would love to see a creative use of the RICO statutes against politician-judges who issue politicized verdicts and sentences. If they wanna go Banana Republic, then they leave their opposition no choice but to go that route too.

US Constitution Ex Post Facto clause as extended to the States by the 14th Amendment. This illegal law they pulled out of their posteriors after the fact is definitely completely punitive in nature, therefore ex post facto clause applies. File in Fed District of NY for 42 USC 1983 violations by the State of NY.

All of it is punitive. There was no allegation that anyone was harmed by anything Trump did or failed to do.

You’re dreaming the New York appeals court is comprised of seven judges and they all are Democrat appointees. You’re dreaming if you think they’re going to rule for Trump. My question is after they slap him down for the millionth time can he appeal it to the Supreme Court? Or is it a done deal already.

It is never required to post a bond in order to appeal.

It is required to post a bond in order to prevent the judgment from being enforced during the pendency of the appeal.

Oh my god what a travesty I wish Trump would’ve sold his business years ago and stayed in Florida. He doesn’t need that crumbling piece of shit real estate. New York is full of rats and nasty evil people full of illegals who will destroy that city anyway.
