Pressing the House to capitulate using these tactics could be much more effective if the government still had full control of the flow of information, and if there were millions more clueless Americans who didn’t see right through these limp attempts.
Old jackasses think that using their time honored shaming rhetoric will be useful in modern times where there are multiple ways to get much more useful and accurate information than was available in the not too distant past. They’re too arrogant and small minded to comprehend their shtick is stale and counterproductive, IMO.
