Immigration system isn’t broken, just ignored, former immigration judge says

The U.S. immigration system isn’t broken, laws established by Congress are being ignored, a former immigration judge told members of Congress.

“Despite consistent claims to the contrary, America’s immigration system is not broken. Far from it, in fact,” Matthew O’Brien said at a hearing held by the U.S. Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

“The problem,” he said, "is that too many administrations have simply ignored whatever aspects of the Immigration and Nationality Act they dislike or find politically inconvenient. And they do so wholly in order to pander to perceived political constituencies, while ignoring the safety, security and economic interests of the wider American public."

O’Brien previously led the National Security Division at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and was assistant chief counsel with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He said the Biden administration’s “flagrant disregard” for the INA “has currently become the norm” and is “leading us into a public safety and national security crisis from which the United States may find itself unable to recover.”

The judge testified that he checked and not one of the illegal aliens he ordered to be deported had been removed from the country.

Finally the truth is uttered. Thanks you judge for your uncensored honesty. Good catch CFW, and thank you for posting it.

How do people in government ignore their sworn oaths without risk?

WHAT?!?!?!

Is that judge telling me that making more laws which future administrations will simply ignore at will (selectively enforce), isn’t the solution?

We all know the solution to every problem is our law makers and buerocracy writing more elaborate laws and regulations./sarc

51,000 double column, small size 10 font, double sided pages of regulations simply isn’t enough: https://www.ecfr.gov/ https://www.govinfo.gov/app/collection/cfr/2023/

Enforce existing laws and we won't need to add any new laws.
It seems to be a regular Leftist tactic to ignore the law and then claim "the system is broken".

How long before they demand comprehensive reform? Again. Soon I guess.
In my experience, the word "comprehensive" in a Leftist's mouth translates to "Let's screw up everything at once".

We found “Comprehensive immigration reform” meant wide open lawless borders. Both parties hoodwinked everyone for decades now.

Same with America's Free Constitutional Republic. It isn't broken, just ignored by the Left and many of those in power.

Because those on the upper levels are doing the same thing, approved by the corrupt administration in power, and by the Globalist/ Deep State scumbags.

“It seems to be a regular Leftist tactic to ignore the law and then claim “the system is broken”.”

Then they propose the solution is new laws that they will then willfully ignore.

We have millions of laws. Just enforce what we have. It just takes spine and balls.

If Congress didn’t think the solution to every problem is a new law, they could all go home and relax for eleven months out of the year. They are the most worthless pile of scum the earth has ever seen. Blatant criminality in the Executive, blatant criminality on the border, and NONE of it is ever brought to justice.

I want a nation that WORKS.

A government that refuses to protect and secure it’s own legitimate sovereign borders, will itself eventually become illegitimate.

We have entered a new normal. Whenever Democrats are in power which is most of the time, the southern border will remain wide open. This will continue beyond the Biden presidency. They want a complete demographic inversion of America.

Why doesn’t a current judge say this?

Spot on. As I’ve said many times, just enforce the laws on the books. We don’t anymore bills passed through Congress.

We, as a country, are now living in a situation that I once posed as a hypothetical proposition. That being: what if the executive branch of our government ignores our laws and Constitution? In other words, what happens when officials simply don’t do what they’re supposed to do? Since the enforcement of our laws and Constitution comes from the same branch that is violating them, our representative form of government breaks down. Similarly, when our legislative branch fails to faithfully represent the people, the system fails. I think we’re experiencing both scenarios.

Century old immigration system that works = vetting and assessing for skills the country needs

Recent amnesty system that does not = no vetting and blanket assessment for votes Democrats need

This has been my contention for decades. Just because you (Democrats) don’t like the system set up by CONGRESS doesn’t mean the EXECUTIVE Branch can usurp the system and reshape it willy nilly to suit them. And when Trump begins exporting these illegals the left will scream mightily. But his authorization will come from the original Congressional laws that supercede policy and Precedent going back to Eisenhower.
