Well let’s see what they’ll shut you down for and maybe issue a ticket too: driving more than 10 mph over the limit - good luck passing jerks who speed up when you try to pass. Driving more than 50 miles from your home more than once a month. Driving to forbidden places (eg synagog, church, rifle range, gun store). This is a horrendous invasion of privacy.

Easy to do with any modern car. They’re all computer controlled anyway.

Recent onstar is integrated, but older is a separate box that can be disconnected by unhooking 3 connections.

The insurance industry is pushing much of this. They want to be able to track you in detail so if you have an accident (or speed!) the accident report is essentially self-written. Also by having all this information at their fingertips they can reconstruct your driving profile to set your rates. Of course they can provide all this to the government if it asks. A remote “kill switch “ on driving is icing on the cake. Haven’t paid your premium in mandatory insurance state , you’re not driving! Again it could be provided to government very easily. Late with your state vehicle property taxes - you’re not driving!

So if you’re trying to avoid an accident, the car is going to think you’re drunk.

“only to be reassured by the mainstream press that this was much ado about nothing. The provision was meant only to keep drunk drivers off the road.”

Hey, speaking of kill switches, I’ve got an idea. How about having each reporter who propagated or propagates that particular narrative agree to be killed the moment the first kill-switched vehicle is stopped by any government agent, action, or proxy, for ANY reason other than for that stated reason. You know, to cut down on the spread of misinformation.

You expect people to advertise breaking of federal and maybe state laws?

Not mine. The 3G network it depended upon has been shut off.

Federal Government employees, last I checked, were not in charge of designing the remote start systems in vehicles.

If the remote start keyfob could shut the engine off while driving, that is a serious accident waiting to happen. Lawyers would have a field day.

They also can turn off your washer and dryer and heat stop. They will control everything in your life if you let them.

Any amendment proposed will still have to be ratified by 38 states. I don’t think an attack on the 2nd will work.

I can see dangers also, but what we’re doing isn’t getting us anywhere. We can’t trust elections & our elected officials all appear to be blackmailed or threatened in some way. They will not do what WE, the people, want. To the detriment of all.

Is it breaking federal or state laws to disconnect broadcasting auto electronics? Seriously?

Why?

When it was freezing last month it sure was nice being able to start my Silverado remotely. When I got in the steering wheel was warmed up as was the seat heater.

I’ve had this truck about 8 months and only know a fraction of all the “stuff” on it. I did watch a YouTube video on how to change a tire if I need to, but I carry a compressor and plug kit so maybe I won’t have to.

Seems easy enough if one is reasonably handy:

But most of us are not reasonably handy. I would like to put an order in about how I want my electronics work.

Can that happen.

Yes, but I suggest that you develop a relationship with a good technician based shop. If you just pull in and ask them to disable your Onstar the answer will most likely be - We don’t do that.

Why don’t they do it?

Is there a secret law that all vehicles past a certain date must be grid connected?
