It’s a young gearhead thing but “tuning” is aplenty. Plenty of redneck guys get their diesel trucks tuned, mostly for performance.

There’s just not a big call for stripping out invasive tech. Everyone’s walking around with it anyway in the form of a smart phone.

Remember the Mad Max movies and how movie-goers mocked the futuristic vehicles (all pieced together from various car model parts) because in the year of the movie’s setting (2022) everyone knew we would probably have the most advanced flying cars.

I believe the script-writers were closer to reality than we thought. People will soon be paying those old back-yard mechanics good money to piece together an ICE vehicle that runs and has no computers. We still have a few of those type mechanics in my rural area, but they are a dying breed.

Same reason no one advertises bypassing catalytic converter.

Am aware.

Amazing that lots of people including fr want cars with less electronics and whine about wanting less however no one wants to do it??
