If Americans could buy Chinese EV’s at $10,000 a pop, I guarantee you the US auto industry would collapse.
To that end, US officials have not - and probably will not - allow the import of Chinese cars.
Given the fact that BYD buses are worthless piles of junk, and their cars are probably even worse than that, I’d say Tesla doesn’t have much to worry about. Ford might take a hit, though, since Job 1 with them went out the door years ago.
Chinese investers are desperate to get their money out of China.
Doesn’t really matter if they turn a profit, they’ll have real assets, even if it busts, denominated in real currencies.

Horsepuckey. Ford, GM and others have announced a scaling back of EV production due to.....HELLO..... lack of demand. What a Surprise!
Thousands and thousands of EVs sit on car lots. Hertz Rentals just announced that they will not be purchasing, and are getting rid of many they already have. Hertz used to have a pretty good record of selling used rentals. Anyone purchasing a used EV should have their head examined.
Ford announced a major scaling back of investing and building batteries for the ridiculous EVs. Phrases like “adapting to the new reality” could just as well been “NOBODY WANTS THEM.”
Last year a German automaker announced the end of several EV model production lines. If one reads the details, this end of production coincided with the end of government subsidies. What a Surprise, again! There is no market for EVs, except for people who can already purchase 2 or more vehicles. They can also afford the home charging setups. I wonder how many EV owners also have a very reliable gasoline SUV that can be fully ‘charged up’ in about 5 minutes.
Here is a test I would love some official organization to perform. Full charge an EV. Put a gasoline-powered Honda generator in the trunk, and connect it to the battery/electric system. How far could the EV get? Would it be equal, less, or more than a regular car? Even if it would, the battery replacement costs are crazy.
Get ready for what? EV’s are starting to be rejected by consumers. Who wants a car that takes at least 30 mins to “fill up””, pollutes more than an internal combustion engine, is prone to fires, and is far far more expensive to own over it’s lifetime?
More cheap Chinese crap? No, thanks.
