Where is the UAW? This would eliminate most of their jobs.

I did last summer. I had a Ford Expedition with 300K miles and replaced it with a Toyota Sequoia. My intention is to keep it until it dies or I die.

In order to keep us under control, they will need to install Soviet-style oppression.

Otherwise, there will a revolution.

I gritted my teeth and did not mention a single thing about that.

For what obvious reasons to both of us.

That is, perhaps the most frustrating thing of all. We have a Republic, but the operators of the Republic are too cowardly corrupt to use it.

“the operators of the Republic are too cowardly corrupt to use it.”

Both the people we elect to be Guardians of the Republic AND those “Guardians” themselves. People are enamored with socialism and communism. The commies played the long game very well. Our kids and grandkids will never know what it used to be like.

Time to find a good late model ICE vehicle before the prices get any more crazy. And be sure to get one with room to conceal an AR-15 or two. Those should also be on your shopping list. The current prices are reasonable but that won’t last much longer. Remember to pay with cash.

I can see US roads will be like Cuba with decades old ICE cars, kept running because there are no suitable replacements. Has anyone in the Biden Administration thought of farm vehicles? Modern agriculture runs on diesel powered machinery and there aren’t even prototypes of electric tractors or combines. Apparently in the green utopia mass starvation will be the norm.

“”Just ban gasoline sales. Problem solved, right?”

Actually, i’d say that the problem would be solved in a matter of days.””

No you are thinking too small the government never thinks small they don’t need too. Trying to ban the sale of an item at 50000+ points of sale is a losing plan. There are only a few dozen refineries in this country the government will ship the production of gasoline for civilian use and use FEDLEO force to keep the limited supply produced for governmental use in armed secured facilities. This is how you end gasoline consumption.

Ethanol can be made with fermentation just like Henry Ford did originally for the Model T it was designed for and ran on ethanol first. Ford was a huge backer of ethanol made at the local farm level,he even showed how a single acre of.potatoes could make enough ethanol to plant and harvest 100 other acres this was with early 1900s level tech and efficiencies. Ford always was a genius. Still pun intended there wouldn’t be enough ethanol for the gas superuser crowd Google that term if needed. For the average person their 40 mile per day commute would take a few gallons per day that is doable with ethanol from MSW+construction wastes, crop residues, and pulp and paper wastes. Modern GMO microbes can eat cellulose and turn it into ethanol w/o huge costs or complex catalysts it’s a big stainless steel tank and some pipes. It’s boomer fud that ethanol “eats engines” if Henry Ford can design in the 1910s an engine that eats ethanol the answer is obvious. My SAAB and Volvo both ran/run on E85 or E98 with a software flash both had/have well over 100K on them and neither has a hint of issue using ethanol fuels. Small cheap mostly chicom built lawn tools might struggle with E10_85 but modern fuel injected engines can burn it with a software flash or a ECU box attached to the fuel injector leads the kits are like $600 to go E98.

Let’s not forget that Brazil for two plus decades ran its entire fleet off pure sugarcane ethanol as E100 and still does E90 or E70 by law. Unlike methanol ethanol is not toxic on the skin membrane or inhaled. Isopropanol,iso/N butanol both make excellent fuels either is 105+ octane here again GMO microbes will happily turn out either from a slew of wastes streams or sugar sources even five carbon sugars that are useless to monogastrics. Long term humans will have to stop using liquid hydrocarbons that’s a very real issue of resource depletion and a over populated planet.

It is unconstitutional for the executive branch to have these kinds of power. It is even unconstitutional for congress to pass off law making to the executive departments. And it is unconstitutional for the USSC to rule otherwise. The constitution is set up to ensure that the people who make the laws are representative voted for by the people. This throws mud all over that.

So, the recent statement about slowing the push for sales of EVs over ICE vehicles was just a bit of damage control to un-ruffle some UAW feathers. As per usual, they’re talking out of both sides of their mouths.

This diktat is not about long term public acceptance of EV’s. It is intended to disrupt a major segment of the US economy. It might be the final straw to break the back of and the entire US economy.

I agree, electric is elegant. But generating on-board sources of power - that’s the challenge. Some say there are systems out there, but they are being suppressed by various energy interests.
