In coastal Ventura County, Republican Dirk Lay is in the middle of a fight that has already been settled in many other California counties.
Lay, 64, wants local voters to support more GOP candidates, convinced their governance can tackle local issues and help grow a conservative base in an overwhelmingly blue region. The way forward is clear, he says: Ventura’s “establishment” Republicans need to make way for "pro-reform" Trump supporters like himself. Lay and a slate of two other candidates are running to unseat members of Ventura’s Republican Central Committee, a localized arm of the party staffed by volunteers who face elections every four years, with equivalents in every county.
In a campaign flyer, the trio urges residents to “vote out” the “do-nothing Republican establishment” and “vote in your local America First Patriots for common sense change.”
“Donald Trump is part of the dividing line,” Lay said from his home in Camarillo. “I would say that the reform candidates, by and large, we are much more supportive of Donald Trump than the incumbent establishment.”

“I think that the people that like and support Trump are the people who defend themselves when they're attacked,” Lay said of one of his reasons for gravitating to Trump. “The other folks are the guys who just go along to get along, they want to be liked.”

Moderation in what?
Moderation hasn’t won them anything. As Trump said, “What have you got to lose?” btw Hispanics love a caudillo.
This strategy has always been the operational method of the GOP, back to Goldwater and Reagan. Never works. But they know that.
GOP leaders don’t want to lose their place at the globalist table.
That’s always been the problem with “conservative”. They’re held by the tyranny of the status quo”. “Conserve” the status quo.
How stupid. The status quo is corrupt and the gov’t is almost altogether unconstitutional and freedom is being violated continuously.
We need to BLOW UP THE STATUS QUO!!!!
The DNC sure doesn’t believe in it.
Democrat leaders don’t need to worry so much about challenges from their rank and file. Almost all Democrat voters are totally on board with the party agenda.
There. Fixed it.
California gave us Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff, Kamela Harris, and a boatload of other incompetent moronic extremists - I don’t have a whole lot of confidence that Californians know what the word “moderate” means.
Oh, let’s listen to the CA GOP party leaders. They have such an amazing record of success over the past 30 years!
False premises.
Moderation in what?
_______________________________________________
Moderation is code for “Please let us keep selling you out.”
Here’s how it works....
Firstly...all the cultural institutions attack true Conservatives (for many many decades).....”the far Right”....”the far far Right”.....”the Christian far far far Right”....the Christian Nationalist far far far far Right”
Secondly.....the GOP Establishment uses this anti Conservative rhetoric to get weak moderate GOP leaning Centrists agitated.....”Dammit.. those crazy Right wingers are gonna cost us a win for Team R....They’re totally out of touch with most of the country”
That’s the Uniparty two step! Sole purpose of the GOP Establishment is to twist the arms of true Conservatives behind our backs while putting a chloroform dipped rag over our mouths
Pretty reasonable premises I’d say, backed up by lots of experience including this one here.
Moderation is what gets you Chuck Schumer saying it is a pleasure working with Mitch McConnell. Don’t need that type of moderation.
GOP candidates in my neck of the woods go out of their way to state America First on all their collateral.
Even for local city and county offices.
My guess is the Republican party will win many seats in MAGA2024. Trump may even win in California, although large percentage of Republicans must’ve moved.
TRUMP.
There is no other.
“I won’t send donations anymore” sung to the tune of “you don’t send me flowers anymore”.
