Houthi rebels in Yemen have employed an unmanned submarine for the first time since attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden began

I would bet US SONAR picks them up as soon as they power up.
Are these similar to what the Ukes are using in the Back Sea? Let’s hope not.
Why not? The Houthis, no doubt are spending some of the pallet of cash Obama/Biden shipped to the Iranians. If the cartels can afford a sub, so can the Houthis. And then there are all the jet-skis they can buy. What defense against them would a merchant ship have?
The Iranians via the Houthis are doing a number on the Egyptian economy by cutting the money brought in from Canal tolls.
History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme. Muslims cutting off the short way to the Indies via the Red Sea cause the Portuguese to sail around Africa and Columbus to attempt a ‘shortcut’ by sailing west.
But what about the Blowfish? /sorry
I would bet US SONAR picks them up as soon as they power up.

I’m sure it would depend on distance, depth, and speed. I have no idea from what these subs are constructed, but it’s possible that they have sound-absorbent materials on the hull. When you don’t have to put a crew onboard, they can be made pretty small too. I’d be interested in how much one of these costs to produce.
“ This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.”
Two words always used together: Houthi rebels. What are they rebelling against? If they are rebelling, why are they attacking America and British ships?
Time to call Tom Hanks (Greyhound).
Sure, desert dwellers are really good at designing submarines with sound absorbing materials. Probably the experience of riding camels gives them some insight into aquatic acoustics. At least they probably spend a lot of time thinking about such things since there isn’t much else to do between bowing and praying towards Mecca 5 times a day.
The Houthis aren’t building that stuff — drones 7 subs — so would it be Iran, or China?
Rebels makes it sound as if they’re illegitimate people.
They are the government and they represent the people.
The proper name is Ansar Allah, not Houthis.
They are attacking US and UK because we targeted them for targeting Jewish owned shipping goods.
Shipping companies play games by ensuring their naval protection from US or UK, while registering elsewhere for taxation purposes.
They also hire SE Asians for crews. More profits…
Electric subs can be extremely quiet. Nuke subs have steam plants and are much harder to silence.
Small electric powered subs could be a serious threat.
