Once upon a time, local communities held regular “militia musters” that all able-bodied men in the town were required to attend. Participants engaged in target practice, marching, small unit tactics, camping skills and first aid, according to what I’ve read about the musters.
Sure sounds like a good idea now. Random “solo” preppers with rifles won’t stop hordes of military-age Chinese invaders. But an organized town might.
