I guess they’re getting tired of trying to teach illiterates.
The lefties in academia have been engaged in fantasy wish fulfillment. This means they have to learn all the hard lessons the hard way. They are now discovering the truth of the mismatch thesis, which they have spent decades denouncing as racist. It turns out that setting up less well prepared students for failure — and then teaching them that their failure is the result of systemic racism — is insane. As sensible people have been warning for decades.
The Ivies that practice affirmative action admittance aren’t sweeping up dummies. They are grabbing kids with 1200 SATs who would be perfectly solid students earning solid degrees in solid subjects at solid, less selective institutions. But put them in an entering class where the average SAT is 1450, and they will struggle. And to this, the lefties response is to put these struggling kids into academic ghettos — the studies programs — and teach them race hatred.
It would be interesting to see hawvawd's drop out/failure rate of the
last few years.
