Dems and some Republicans excoriated him for that. Why? A lack of discernment for some and a way to torch the opposition politically for others.

The Military under this corrupt and traitorous administration has no credibility, no accountability and can not be trusted. Examples, the Afghanistan withdrawal and Austin being AWOL earlier this year.
A corollary aside is that people who think Musk is his own man, or that Xtwitter is on the side of ‘Truth, justice and the American way’, are delusional.
Musk’s entrepreneurial fortune is 100% controlled by the CCP. Personally, I think Must is allowed to run Xtwitter the way he does so as to clobber the alternatives: gettr, truth social, etc. I say this all to address the fact that with the re-emergence of Xtwitter, gettr has lost momentum (probably not the only reason, but...) and is looking at a huge lay-off.
America’s enemies will choose this shell of a human being over any America First candidate. Their second choice is Harris. Their 3rd choice is Haley.
