Well, they certainly don’t look like they’ll provide much protection while sliding into a base that’s for sure.

I played up to high school varsity baseball, countless innings of city league softball and had my share of “strawberries”.

I suspect those pants ain’t gonna help.

Sorry you went through that. I started wearing sliding pads as soon as I started wearing uniforms. Many even have padding around the lower hip area to slow injury. And this has lead to sliding mitts you see now at a number of different levels. Not by rule but by choice of the runner.
