Thanks for the clarification. My oldest son still has quite a number of wood baseball bats he used to swing when he played minor league baseball several years ago. I wonder if they could be termed “assault bats” now? I better let him know to hide his bats, the BATF is probably going to come after him and his bats.

They were banned in California as “billy clubs” until just recently.
