The Trump Hangover That Won’t Go Away - Has nine years of breathing in number 45’s exhaust finally taken its political toll?

There has been a drastic reduction in progressive fervor to put Donald Trump out to pasture in 2024. Despite the stark reminder of the former president’s legal problems, the January 6 incident, and talk both brash and bold, long gone are the folks, armed with hand-painted signs at the ready, protesting the man at every turn and on every issue.

When Trump surprised everyone by winning the 2016 election, progressives organized loudly, donations to candidates and causes rose, and the political landscape was forever altered. By osmosis, it seemed, well-coordinated protests erupted; in two years, America had the likes of radical progressives taking over the House of Representatives.

Where did that drive, that energy go? Has nine years of breathing in number 45’s exhaust finally taken its political toll on what was once a forceful and dominant movement?

Teflon Don

Perhaps the progressive machine has faced the hard, cold truth: Donald Trump is going nowhere. Many Never-Trumpers have also petered out and decided the fight was futile at best. Trump’s opponent, Nikki Haley, did not attend the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend. Possibly because event organizers are “ All in for Trump.” Haley is not backing out, though, and has promised to run at least through Super Tuesday.

“We’re kind of, like, crises-ed out,” said Shannon Caseber, a security guard in Pittsburgh who spoke to a prominent New York newspaper on the subject of progressive malaise. She also referred to the potential rematch as a “dumpster fire.” Caseber continued: “Any sense of urgency that we had with the 2020 election — I think it’s still there in the sense that no one wants Trump to be president, at least for Democrats, but it’s exhausting.”

We’re still dealing with the marxist stench of Obama.

I’ll take Trump’s “exhaust” any day.

Very strange article. Dumps on President Trump, but admits Republicans are uniting behind him.

There is liberal malaise? Its exhausting to do battle against Republicans and Trump? Do these liberals just expect to win elections by default? They tell us they believe in free and fair elections, but they are shocked that a political opponent can win such elections?

It isn't "exhausting" because "no one wants Trump". It's exhausting because you are fighting a simple idea that most people want, to make America great again.

Looks like the ossified progressive machine must have faced
the cold, hard, truth: Donald Trump is going nowhere........

Political Action Conference because they are “ All in for Trump.”

Neurotic female candidate Nikki Haley is not backing down, though, b/c math is not her
strong point. She doesn’t understand 60% voting against you is b-a-a-a-a-a-d. Means you lost.

Sarah dear,

It’s no longer “Cool” to be a “Progressive”.
You now sound like a simple grifting Socialist Destroyer, like the Pantsuit Harpie herself.

The Working Man is now supported by MAGA, not The Nation. The American Citizen is for MAGA, not the WEF.

You’ll have to rebrand your Socialism again with a new name, like you’ve done repeatedly over the past 150 years.

Without a large ad budget, without any positive press, without support from Hollywood, and with a huge amount of law-fair attacking him from 4 different states. The people have become more and more supportive of Trump. So its safe to say that America does not trust the FBI, the court system, the media, even the republican leadership. We trust Trump. Because we can see the lies, the corruption, the dissertation of laws, ethics, and democracy. Its obvious and we aren’t buying their propaganda any more.

“When Trump surprised everyone by winning the 2016 election..”

By “everyone”, they mean the progressives.

I wasn’t at all surprised he won in ‘16 or ‘20. And I fully expect him to win in ‘24.

Whether or not they can stop him from taking office again - that is the only question.

A person who is honest with their self only has to look at the prosperity of the USA from 2016 to 2020, then look at the decline in the USA from 2020 to 2024 to see the advantage of a President Trump...

It is really that simple...

Yeah, going to the crack that bears no name to sling “stuff” since 2016
hasn’t worked its charm as it has in the past.

Like him or not, I can’t think of a single person alive today who could have
withstood what Trump has for us.

It’s truly amazing to observe. That’s why I am loyal to him.
