To all the more knowledged people in FR, is this a bad move or a good move?

Good. Russia invading its neighbors is bad - this dramatically improves the security situation for the Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia) and reduces the chance that the United States will be thrown into a shooting war with the Russians.

Russia went to war for, among other reasons, to defend against NATO incursion to its southwest. In return it now faces a vastly more potent and extensive adversary on its northwest flank.

Sweden has an excellent navy. They also make fighter jets.
Unlike most of the other NATO members, they actually have a decent military.
Adding Sweden to NATO is a direct counter to Russia in the Baltic.

Adding Sweden to NATO actually makes NATO stronger. Unlike, say adding Slovenia.

For NATO, good.
It solidifies logistics (ports, airfields, roads, etc.) and adds “strategic depth” to Finland, the other new member, which is on the front line.
It also adds a bit more economic heft.

It’s a perfectly good, common sense move.

The vast majority of the Swedish population are supporting Sweden’s entry in NATO and nearly all political parties do as well. The far-right party (The Sweden Democrats) and right parties are profoundly enthusiastic about it.
The Social Democrats are ok with it too.
Only the far left-party (the old communist party) is opposing Sweden’s entry into NATO. It’s typical for the far-left entities in Europe, they have always been complicit with Russia, one way to the other.

Sweden has been harassed by Russia for decades. Russian submarines entering into Swedish waters non-stop, aggressive violations of its air-space by armed Russian aircraft, the historic infiltration into Sweden’s politics via the far-left party (working with Russia) etc.. etc... The Swedish population has had enough.

I’m traveling between France, America and the Scandinavian countries non-stop. I know everything about what’s behind the tensions between Russia and Scandinavia.

Bad move. The Swedes are giving up neutrality and accepting occupation by US (nato) bases. Now the US will dictate their foreign policy.

Sad

Bad. Once NATO gets into a country it dictates it economics as well.
