San Francisco's supervisors plan to offer a formal apology to Black residents for decades of racist laws and policies perpetrated by the city, a long-awaited first step as it considers providing reparations.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Tuesday on the resolution apologizing to African Americans and their descendants. All 11 members have signed on as sponsors, guaranteeing its passage. It would be one of the first major U.S. cities to do so.
The resolution calls on San Francisco to not repeat the harmful policies and practices, and to commit “to making substantial ongoing, systemic, and programmatic investments” in Black communities. There are about 46,000 Black residents in San Francisco.
“An apology from this city is very concrete and is not just symbolic, as admitting fault is a major step in making amends,” Supervisor Shamann Walton, the only Black member of the board and chief proponent of reparations, said at a committee hearing on the resolution earlier this month.

They will always want more, until all white people are dead, and they have all their money.

The least they could do is give each former cotton picker a participation trophy and a pair of work boots.

Thing is, California, historically, was much more prejudiced against Chinese and Japanese (Orientals) than it ever was against blacks. Who is apologizing to them?
Give them the city. Let them “fix it”.
46,000 blacks in a city of 815,000. That’s about 6% of the population.
The only reality presented in this article is that — at long last — the people of the government of a Democrat/Communist-run major U.S. city publicly admit they — and their policies — have been, are and continue to be racist; that their governing style is based on racism ... something conservatives have known for a long, long time.
Once they get something, no matter how generous it may be, they will always demand more.
I think reparations would be fun to watch! In fact, I would love to do a documentary giving away 1 million to ten random street folks in SF just to see what happened.
Indians had slaves, who were Indians and a few whites. The Spanish had Slaves, mostly indians. The Chinese who came to America had slaves, young chinese women who populated the brothels. How many blacks were slaves in California...any?? Will there be reparations for any of the other groups??
