American Airlines Flight Attendants to Picket Wall Street During Company’s 2024 Investor Day While Languishing Under Wages Negotiated in 2014

...

As American Airlines puts on a show for investors, proclaiming the company’s goal is “To Care for People on Life's Journey®,” its Flight Attendants will be outside, demanding to be cared for on their life’s journey. Flight Attendants picket to educate investors that AA is still waging labor war against its largest unionized workgroup. AA has thus far refused to make the improvements to wages and quality of life the way that Flight Attendants need to see, driving Flight Attendants to ask for release from mediated negotiations so they can move toward a strike.

...

American Airlines Flight Attendants continue to languish under pay rates negotiated in 2014. While American's upper-level management has rewarded themselves handsomely with incentives and bonuses, they refuse to offer Flight Attendants sufficient pay improvements that address inflation and the cost of living in Flight Attendant bases like New York City, Boston and Miami.

APFA, the Union representing American's 27,000 Flight Attendants, has petitioned the NMB for a release to strike. Last August, American’s Flight Attendants overwhelmingly voted to authorize APFA to call a strike if necessary. In mid-March, they will make their case to the NMB at a status conference in Washington, D.C. Once released by the NMB, Flight Attendants will strike in support of contract demands if necessary.

Better than languishing in unemployment.

DEI hires are an overabundant fungible commodity these days.

Start taxing them for all the free trips they get.

the printing of debt and money and giving it to the elites who are frist in line for the grift is creating inlfation that is killing all of us. I wouldn't attack flight attendants for complaining about feeling the pinch.

Blame the soure, the deepstate grifters like Bush and Cheney and their open pockets WOT that got this whole mess going.

Wrong enemy. Flight attendants are not building $20M mansions in Potomac Md and McClean VA.

When I was flying a lot those AA FA’s used to complain among themselves in the galley. Many of them, especially the diversity hires, spent more time complaining than than doing their job. You knew when you got on the plane if you might get your pre-departure beverage or not.

its called imputed income. this excerpt is from the first item on a quick google search.

“The definition of imputed income is benefits employees receive that aren’t part of their salary or wages (like access to a company car or a gym membership) but still get taxed as part of their income.”

So airline employee travel has a certain dollar value attached to it even though its not actually income. plus we pay for international fees and some countries charge an exit tax to pay for their airports or whatever they deem necessary. London Heathrow Airport is notoriously expensive. somewhere around $100 per person exit tax. most are way less. so the myth of free travel is exactly that. Its significantly cheaper but not totally free. maybe a couple hundred roundtrip from the USA to Europe instead of a couple thousand.

I worked part-time for Piedmont decades ago (wilder & younger days). I wish I had a dollar for every “free” air-mile I flew (though, I remember the fees). And there always seemed like there was a ride somewhere. Did a number of trips to Europe. It’s a good thing I wasn’t taxed on the fun I had.

While it seems odd. Bottom line how much do they make? Many folks would be happy with that
