[](/sites/default/files/uploads/2015/04/biden-joe.jpg)While the Obama Administration continues their pressure on Israel, for at least Joe Biden, it is not the first time that there has been animosity with an Israeli leader. The reality is that while some of the names change, this conflict is about Israel’s refusal to surrender to a Palestinian Arab enemy who seeks to destroy the Jewish nation.
The United States is wrong to pressure Israel – yet, this too shall pass.
History often repeats itself.
On June 22 1982, Joe Biden was a Senator from Delaware and confronted then Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin during his Senate Foreign Relations committee testimony, threatening to cut off aid to Israel.
Begin forcefully responded,
“Don’t threaten us with cutting off your aid. It will not work. I am not a Jew with trembling knees. I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history. Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country. We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.”
As media reports that the United States Government continues to pressure Israel, America must respect the will of the Israeli public, whom overwhelmingly re-elected Benjamin Netanyahu. Rightfully, a senior Israeli elected official noted, “Settlement building will be one of the basic guidelines of the next government and just as I don’t interfere in America if they build in Florida or California, they don’t need to interfere in building in Judea or Samaria.”
During the exchange in ’82, Senator Biden reportedly banged the table with his fist, and Begin retorted,
“This desk is designed for writing, not for fists. Don’t threaten us with slashing aid. Do you think that because the US lends us money it is entitled to impose on us what we must do? We are grateful for the assistance we have received, but we are not to be threatened. I am a proud Jew. Three thousand years of culture are behind me, and you will not frighten me with threats. Take note: we do not want a single soldier of yours to die for us.”
Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the leader of the Revisionist movement, which both Begin & Netanyahu emanate from noted in 1940 that, “We hold that Zionism is moral and just. And since it is moral and just, justice must be done, no matter whether Joseph or Simon or Ivan or Achmed agree with it or not.” The reality is that principles matter.
World leaders would be apt to remember these words and times.
This is an older article, but even more relevant in today’s news.
>> May G-d instill in the Israelis the desire to possess every square inch of their Land. EVERY DAMN SQUARE INCH!
Yes and Amen!
By the faith of Abraham YHWH gave it to them for their possession FOREVER. But even in the old days they wavered on the courage and desire to take it. May they hold firm in this day. I am encouraged by what I have seen so far.
The people of Gaza chose to follow Hamas.
The people of Lebanon chose to follow Hezbollah.
That was their choice. When their terrorist leaders do things
that cause the populace to come under attack, I don’t feel a
bit of remorse. Live by the terrorist, die by the terrorist’s
actions.
If the people on the West Bank and Gaza were a decent sort,
they would be supported by their neighbors. As of the
current time, these people are not accepted in Egypt,
Jordan, or Lebanon. Everywhere they go, they claim that
they are being mistreated, and they try to overthrow the
resident governments.
In truth my above comments were a bit over the top, in that
I don’t like to see any people live a vile existence, but
the people of Gaza have no one to blame but themselves.
They sent hundreds of missiles per day into Israel for
years on end. It’s been a problem for nearly a decade by
now, if it truly isn’t.
What did they expect to happen if they invaded an event
like they one where they killed, raped, and kidnapped
innocent people?
If I didn’t understand the Left, it would baffle me how
they could be desirous of backing the Gaza people.
It’s an insult to everything decent to try and lay this
off on Israel.
There are hostages. Hamas still had serious players on
the loose in Gaza.
Full speed ahead Israel.
Did biden admit he was a Catholic that likes to sniff little girls?
It has been a while since it was posted, but never a better time to post it again.
Absolutely. As far as I'm concerned, the "Palestinians" can have a land of their own, but they can't have Israel.
it is as it is destined
and
it is as it must be, just pragmatically speaking
thus,
it will be.
no amount of backstabbing by foreign (or local) political hacks can change the facts of the situation. All Biden and Blinken and their ilk do is embarrass themselves with all of their antisemitic and pro-Muslim terrrorist rhetoric. they are indeed a really disgusting circus act with this, little more.
hoping we get a more responsible and moral USA administration soon!
Thanks for posting; thanks for the links, ‘Civ
Indeed it is.
NO one came to their aid when they were dying in the gas chambers?!!
WTF! WE FOUGHT A DAMNED WAR TO END THAT!!!
It was only after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor that we entered thè war. We knew about the ovens for years. We financially assisted Great Britian, but we didn’t enter that war until after Japan did its dirty deed. Then, we had a good excuse. By then, Hitler had done most of his damage.
Actually, the Wannsee Conference was in response to America entering the war, since at that point the Nazis determined that the Jews no longer had value as “hostages” and thus, the decision was made to proceed with “The Final Solution”.
Wow. What a great post. Words to be remembered, for sure!
We need more MEN like him in this world.
“NO one came to their aid when they were dying in the gas chambers?!!

I think Roosevelt knew about the gas chanmbers and didn’t do anything until late in the game.
They have them. We do to. They are starting to come out of the slime.
Nobody came to their aid?
What an ungrateful POS…
“Nobody came to their aid?”
Roosevelt refused to bomb the train yards that were carrying Jews to their deaths in the camps. He also refused to allow a ship full of Jewish refugees to land in New York. They returned to Europe where most of them were murdered.
Maybe you were unaware of that.
But I doubt it.
