Rather than fighting the decay, we are adapting to it. I’ve noticed many examples over the years.

as soon as going postal became a thing, myself going to a post office stopped being a thing.
I may have overreacted since going postal hasn’t been a thing in decades.
I’d warn others about similarly overreacting to merely stolen mail but I don’t want to hinder anyone adapting to decay.
