Arizona is a particular problem. The rMcCain political machine is still a big player. The late senator's father in law, a beer distributor, was an associate of the Chicago Outfit. He was neither Italian nor Jewish, but the Outfit was an equal opportunity employee. In recent years, the cartels have replaced the Outfit as the principal underworld operator. The McCain machine in league with the Democrats now control the statewide officials.
California is an upfront leftist takeover, essentially an American version of Cuba or Venezuela. The Federal presence, even under Biden, is all that keeps the state from full blown Communism.
How many border county sheriffs in Texas are on the payroll of the Mexican cartels? Even under Trump, with better control over illegal immigration, the drug flow continued due to the profit margins. New Mexico has a short border with Mexico with few roads through desert country.
Next to cleaning out the military and the Federal police bureaucracy, the top priority for a second Trump administration must be to seal the border. Not only Mexico but also Canada.
