Even as he promises international partners that Ukraine will handle the fighting if given needed weapons and other support, President Volodymyr Zelensky and his top military commanders have failed so far to come up with a clear plan to conscript or recruit many thousands of new soldiers critically needed to defend against Russia’s continuing attacks.
Zelensky’s inability to forge a political consensus on a mobilization strategy — despite months of warnings about a severe shortage of qualified troops on the front — has fueled deep divisions in Ukraine’s parliament and more broadly in Ukrainian society. It has left the military relying on a hodgepodge of recruiting efforts and sown panic among fighting-age men, some of whom have gone into hiding, worried that they will be drafted into an ill-equipped army and sent to certain death given that aid for Ukraine remains stalled in Washington. The quandary over how to fill the ranks has confronted Zelensky with perhaps the greatest challenge to his leadership since the start of the February 2022 invasion.

Divert those military age men from Libya who are invading Italy and send them straight to the front lines. Promise them Ukrainian citizenship if they survive.

Girl units are being formed.
Ukrainian girls are dying on the front line now.
After that, it will be the 13-17 year olds.

That would be an interesting discussion to have. I am not sure if it would help but the chaos would be brought to a new level.
Come to the Southern border of the U.S. Plenty of military-age males there with nothing to do.
Not to take away any satire in your post but how many refugees/illegal aliens/border crossers WOULD actually take up such and offer; perhaps if it came with their families being allowed to stay in Ukraine and receive some level of support while they fight and a benefit if they die fighting? Enough to fill the ranks and turn the demographics from losing to a more true stalemate? A better place to negotiate a settlement from?
Ukraine was losing ~30,000 a month during their counteroffensive.
To put that into perspective a nation of 41 million lost more men in 3 months than we (240 million population back then) did in 6-7 years in Vietnam.
It’s not a lack of weapons, we and the Europeans supplied them ample. They have just been getting killed in vast numbers, unreported in the West, and many of the folks in Ukraine know the truth and don’t want to die.
Ukraine is now at a point where they are running out of warm bodies and not everyone is jumping up volunteering to be cannon fodder for us. Not everyone even agrees with this war, which may sound ridiculous in a world where all we have heard are stories about Ukrainian victories, sovereignty and democracy... But no one even asks how Mr Z came to power, who really backed and installed this guy? Was is really necessary to expand NATO into Ukraine the way we did?
Z could try inspiring his troops by leading the charge on the front line like George Washington except all coked up and wealthy from graft.
