I think they did a courageous job on this. I am not a fan
of the Leftist Justices, but when they do something right,
I try to commend them for it.
I doubt these people relished backing Trump on this, but
they did think he was being railroaded in violation of
the U. S. Constitution. So good for them.
I think that primarily the leftist justices didn’t want to risk having Biden removed from the ballot in every red state (and to be generous, perhaps they had a small degree of concern for the country due to the chaos that would ensue if states could remove candidates from federal elections). But regardless of their motivation, all’s well that ends well.

Jackson is such a moron that she is not capable of such deep analysis—though you probably correctly explained the thinking of the other two lefties—and they may have talked her into making it unanimous.
They did not want to get dragged into something like a Dredd Scott decision that could start a Civil War. I think Jackson stupidly “spilled the beans” when she admitted that all that mattered was keeping everybody calm.
That is an admission that for leftists the decisions are political—they could not care about the legal niceties.
