I am not sure where you live, but if you call the Sheriff and get no response, I want to hear about it. When there is a downturn, values go down. Remember, we are 2 years delayed. During the bad economic years, this Board decreased the property tax rate to meet the “truth in taxation” rate. That is the rate that would mean you are paying the same out of pocket as the year before. Again, the Board only has control of the County part of your property tax. The County (which includes the library and flood control districts) is only 22% of your entire bill We have no control over Fire Districts, School Districts, Water districts which are the largest part of your bill. They are led by their own elected Boards.
I agree with you about illegals. We are watching carefully to see if any of the non profits are bringing in illegals. It will not happen on our watch. Bullhead City just passed a resolution that they will not expend any resources towards illegals. It is written much like the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County resolution I brought to the Board five years ago.
I would love to sit down and talk to you. Do not know where you live so you could come to my office or I will meet you for coffee anywhere you’d like. I know these are frustrating times. I believe this Board has done the best job with the money we have without raising the tax rate. 87% of our budget goes to mandated services. We are the only County that has no sales tax. Yet we experience the same rampant inflation as everyone else. From a paper clip tso contracts, everything has gone up.
But much of the problem is with the State. That is why I am running for State Senate. I think anyone who runs for a State position should have local government experience. I know the tricks they use to pass funding onto us. There is a lot of waste at the State.

Property taxes should be based only on the original cost period.
I built this place for around 35 grand. Therfore, that should be the tax assessment. IF, I were to sell for say 250 grand, then THAT, becomes the assessment.
These shyster real estate agents are WAY over valuing property here in this valley.
As I explained to my district commissioner, what that does is when someone purchases such an over valued property, and if they rent it, the rent had to cover costs...taxes.
Maybe you can’t see the sense to that but what it does is puts the pressure on the realtors to keep the prices at reasonable market rates or they find that they will be responsible for the community collapse. New owners will be aware that their property taxes will reflect the buying price and not some clowns personal idea of what the property is worth.
That is why these people from wealthy areas come here to purchase. They pay outrageous prices knowing that they can get buy doing it and in the meantime speculate on the market they created
Be aware..many of these types of people have no intention of staying here long term.
Then...the issue of WATER. Do you know that the ground water north of Las Vegas is radioactive? Just an example but, that aquifer is moving slowly south to southwest. So eventually...it will reach the aquifers in towns/cities.
We keep allowing out of control development here in Eastern mohave county and some day..in the near future we will get to see a complete collapse of the communities because of ground water contamination..bacterial or other.
Instead of letting rain water run off and evaporate we should be constructing water retainment pools in every Dam drywash in the county.
Gimme an excavator and truck me the rock and I’ll show you how to do it. And keep the book learned college boys to hell away and I will have those collection pools done in short order. Those pools will allow that water to sit and filter down into the aquifer and not evaporate at the rate it does now..and after i am done with one..nobody will even know that they are there after a season.
One more concerning public safety and security.
This sheriff had better be prepared to swear in citizens for added security. These people need to be schooled on civil rights..that would also include the present county and local police.
I see a hoard of illegals coming and some are extremely violent. Illegals are NOT PROTECTED under this countries civil rights laws. By their crossing this border illegally, they give up all state and national civil rights by the violation of the law.
