Centrist extinction looms as Sinema, Manchin, Romney call it quits
Axios ^ | March 6 | Axios

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's (I-Ariz.) decision not to seek re-election has dealt the latest in a series of crushing blows to Senate bipartisanship, hollowing out a centrist core that has suffered under years of intensifying polarization.

Why it matters: The departures of Sinema, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) — three moderates routinely vilified by their own parties — will leave a massive hole for bipartisan deal-making.

Thank heavens!

Although I'm sure they'll always be able to find 15 GOPers to vote with the Dems for more spending

At least two of those seats will be more conservative. Who knows about the Sinema seat?

Centrist extinction

They aren't centrists. They are corruptocrats. They are grifters taking money from the left to just sit in their centrist position and do nothing to oppose leftist causes. It's like True Conservative (TM) Paul Ryan who still cannot figure out why conservatives despise his corrupt big mouth do nothing ass.

I have before stated that I want my representative to know that when your opponent is drowning you don’t throw them a life preserver (in the interests of comity and capitulation doncha know), you throw them an anvil (because winning is the only thing to quote a famous NFL coach).

Of those three, I would only call Sinema as doing something centrist. Munchkin pretended for the sake of West Virginia voters, he was mostly and opportunist. Romney is a far left fraud.

The USA is getting increasingly polarised

It's not only the USA though - I see the same in the UK, Poland, India, Japan etc. -- social media is exacerbating things

People in each "camp" now increasingly listen only to opinions from their camp and news is even framed per camp.

people view the other side as evil and with whom there can be no dialogue

If true, THANK YOU, GOD!!!!!!!!

And God, PLEASE raise up someone of character and integrity to serve in their place and give us honest elections. We want them, but there's only so much anyone can do to stop the cheaters, but, You, Lord, are more than capable of that.

Please do it!!!!!

They are nothing but whores, Romney and Manchin in particular. They sell us out to the MIC, Big Pharma and anyone one else with the financial wherewithal while earning their pocket change senatorial pay. Just like that warmongering bi+ch Nuland, now is when they’ll get their big payoffs. Each will sit on multiple boards of directors, each will have family members made millionaires by the same companies, etc., etc. They destroy the country to set their families up for generations. There’s not a damned thing we can do about either.

If Larry Hogan wins you can bet on that. He will lead the anti- Trump GOP brigade in the Senate if Trump is in the WH.
