It's Official: Louisiana Becomes 28th State to Adopt Permitless Carry
Bearing Arms ^ | 3/5/24 | Cam Edwards

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry campaigned on a pro-Constitutional Carry platform last fall, and the former Attorney General wasted no time at all to fulfill his campaign promise. Just a little more than two weeks after a permitless carry bill was formally introduced in a special session on crime and public safety, Landry put pen to paper today and officially made concealed carry licenses optional in the Sportsmans Paradise. ""Today, we join 27 other states in passing Constitutional Carry. I promised the folks of Louisiana that I would champion Constitutional Carry into law, and within two months, I have honored that commitment," Republican Gov. Jeff Landry told Fox News Digital.

"It's fundamentally clear — law-abiding citizens should never have to seek government permission to safeguard themselves and their families. Today, we have secured an incredible victory for liberty in Louisiana. I want to thank Louisiana’s NRA members for their great work.""

And now that we have a plurality of States with Constitutional Carry, the Supreme court should strike down ALL States Gun Control Laws.

This one will be an interesting one to watch. Louisiana has a fairly high crime rate; it’ll be instructive to see if passing permitless carry has any impact on that. One of the Left’s counters to pointing out the low crime rates in “constitutional carry” states is to claim that those states would have low crime anyway e.g. Vermont, which barely has any population and effectively no cities.

The media lies and tells everyone that the voters want stricter gun laws. What we actually want is for the laws against crime to be enforced. If those who are arrested for violent crimes were charged and sentenced according to current laws they would either be in prison or would modify their behavior.

More gun laws would have no effect on the current crime rate. Allowing law-abiding citizens more freedom to carry their firearm would reduce crime. Each time a state proposes permit-less carry the left predicts shoot-outs and blood in the streets. Instead, once more freedoms are allowed, gun crimes go down.

That’s cool, but the Gun Free School Zones Act is still law. Under this law you can be charged if you possess a firearm in a school zone. This act has an exception for persons who have a state issued license. IOW, regardless of whether ones’s state has constitutional carry, one is well advised to still obtain a permit.

But be careful!!

According to Louisiana Revised Statutes Tit. 14, § 95.6. there is a gun-free zone extending out 1,000 feet (the length of three football fields) from any school campus.

**Please note** The new law does not go into effect until July 4th. Until then, their permit system remains in effect. This means, from March 6th, it is 120 days left to civil rights are restored.

Do we have an updated map of the US for this? The one with green-, blue- and yellow-shaded states?

Free carry is nice.

But, take another step.

Let every citizen use their weapon to defend life and property in every crime-threat situation, in the home, business and road, without fear of prosecution. Including theft in businesses.

Also, take note that Vermont is only 1.5% black.

I am not a racist, but the percentage of black population has a huge impact on crime statistics.

Shoulda woulda coulda

After the Supremes made NY have to allow concealed carry via the Bruen law. The Governor just doubled down and made more draconian laws. Worse now.

Americans should NEVER require a license to exercise a constitutional right.

Indeed. If you pull blacks and hispanics out of crime stats, the US has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. This is why the government, especially the feral government incorrectly classify many hispanics as "White". They WANT to screw up the crime stats because it interferes with the agenda.

If I'm "racist for pointing this out, so be it. I no longer care at all
