Nearly 1,000 New York National Guardsmen, state police, and MTA cops are being deployed to carry out bag checks in the Big Apple’s crime-ridden subway system, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday.

In total, 750 guardsmen and 250 cops will help NYPD officers patrol the “the city’s busiest transit stations,” Hochul said.

National Guardsmen did not sign up for this. Plus if they do catch someone are they going to do anything about it?

With all the infiltrators allowed in our country how soon before we experience a massive “Tet Offensive” event?

“National Guardsmen did not sign up for this. Plus if they do catch someone are they going to do anything about it?”

If you’re in a military organization under a communist, you’ll do a lot of stuff you didn’t sign up for. And they don’t have to punish anyone they catch, the mere illusion of action will keep the idiots in NY voting Dem.

LOL. why ANYONE joins the Guard in NY is beyond me. They are Leftist governor’s (which is all of them recently) reserve political force

During Covid, Cuomo had them cleaning hospitals and making food in nursing homes.

There are dozens if not hundreds of easy, obvious things Hochul and the state legislature should be doing to combat rampant crime. Calling out the National Guard is not one of them.

Hey Gov, arrest the bad guys, go back to cash bail, and find a place to cage these animals until their trial. It would be less expensive then the current catch and release policy now in place.

I am not sure about New York laws but generally military troops have no authority over civilians, nor do they have the power of arrest.

Oh this is rich, calling out the National Guard to patrol the subways?

The flopsweat of desperation here is amusing.

That will prevent honest, law-abiding, non-violent people from carrying something to defend themselves.

Violent criminals will not be affected.

Allow some idiot judge to release on a no cash bail, of course.

As soon as all the terrorists get their ‘soft targets’ identified, they’ll go after many, many multiple targets in one day of hell for America. We’re ‘well-prepared’ here, so bring it, enemies...

Bag checks? Don’t they need probable cause or at least reasonable suspicion of a crime? They stopped the stop and frisk policy. Now they’ll harass busy commuters at the busiest train stations?

Wouldn’t the sparsely used stations be where people are more at risk?

Or is there something else up here? Do they have some intel about potential terror or something?
