One has to ask how competent their tank crews are. From what I’m reading (on FR), combatants are conscripted and put into battle rather hurriedly.

The intelligent thing to do is to bring the Ukrainian crews to the US and send them through the tanker training in the US at Fort Knox Kentucky.

I have no idea if that happens or not.

The base has high tech simulators.

“ Ukrainian crews to the US”

Where we can pay them to be trained, give them money to burn then hope they don’t put on civvies and slip away to California during a three day pass never to be seen again.

Ironically, my father was a defense contractor in Fort Knox when the Abrams was introduced. Army officers complained (shared with us) that the recruit of that era were almost too stupid to understand the complexities of so much computerized equipment.

I guess they eventually got past that hurdle, but it takes time. Time the Ukes do not have.

The US has no business getting involved in any war in Europe, especially in the Ukraine. If the Europeans want to help, that's on them.

There has not been “tanker training” at Ft. Knox since 2011, when the Armor School was moved to Ft. Benning as a “cost cutting” measure. There are still some tank ranges there, but they are used for Army National Guard tank gunnery training on weekend and during the summer. The Armor School was replaced by the Army’s Human Resources Command, which processes all of the Army’s personnel actions.
