I took Adderall for many years for ADD, and yes, I was diagnosed by a properly trained doctor. I currently take Adderall XR for ADD, and for my cancer-related fatigue.
People with ADD have brains that are wired differently. A person with ADD does not act restlessly or speak rapidly. To the contrary, it helps the person’s brain to slow down just a bit and allows them the better focus..
A person who doesn’t have ADD acts just like Biden did last night.
People with ADD and no co-morbidities are often very talented, brilliant, and very successful people. I personally know a few.

I am related to several of those. Mostly it causes them to focus down on a subject and to learn or calculate everything there is to know about it. My 42 y.o. daughter is like that. I have only to mention a certain physical difficulty and several days later I get a long email from her with research in depth and insertions explaining why some of it is spurious and which of it is good and what supplements to take or stop taking. When she was pregnant with her first and she and husband were short on money but had assets too much for Medicaid she scoped out all the possibilities for an affordable birth and they went to Peru where he got a job and she got a midwife. A year later they came back in much better shape financially and with a beautiful little boy.
The doctor said that there is a deficit of dopamine or dopamine signaling in the brain in ADD and ADHD.
Ritalin increases dopamine.
So does nicotine and other drugs, but it probably has to do with where in the brain dopamine neurotransmission is increased. That I do not know.
