GEORGE Rule' Revoking House Access For Ousted Members Proposed After SOTU Surprise Visit by George Santos: Report
The Daily Voice ^ | 03/11/2024

If you were baffled by former New York Congressman George Santos’ surprise appearance at the State of the Union address, you certainly weren’t alone.

According to Google data, searches for the term “House floor privileges” spiked dramatically during President Biden’s national address Thursday night, March 7.

The reason, no doubt, was Santos himself, who was all smiles seated in the House chamber while donning a rhinestone necklace and flashy silver shoes.

His attendance understandably left many confused, given the 35-year-old Republican’s historic ouster from his 3rd District seat representing parts of Nassau County and Queens amid growing accusations he had committed federal crimes.

But it turns out the disgraced politician was perfectly within his rights to be there; as a former member, his House floor privileges remain intact unless he’s convicted of a crime.

Among the House members to voice their disapproval of Santos’ appearance was New York Rep. Ritchie Torres, whose 15th District represents the Bronx.

“Expelled Congressman George Santos is disgracing the House Floor with his presence,” he said on X. “He should be expelled from the House Floor.”

Torres followed up his rebuke by introducing a new House rule that would revoke the floor privileges for expelled members of the chamber.

The new rule would be known as the “GEORGE rule” – Getting Expelled Officially Revokes Guaranteed Entry.

It remains to be seen how much support the rule change will garner from Republicans, whose vote to oust Santos ultimately slimmed their already razor thin majority in the House.

Santos is facing a total of 23 federal criminal counts, including identity theft, wire fraud, money laundering, and lying to Congress. His trial is scheduled to start in September.

A man is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law by a jury of his peers. These people failed basic constitutional government.

RINOs are so utterly useless stupid that they can't even count. Sureley as traitorous as they are they understand that more votes they control means the higher the payoff to betray the country.

A George rule is a bill of attainder.

Yeah guys, Santos showing up. That’s what ruined the sense of history and decorum that night. Not the bunch of idiots dressed in white, not Kamala popping up and down every 20 seconds. Not the whole room looking like someone spilled a bag of skittles with moslem garb, African garb, and a demented idiot screaming at America for an hour. No, Santos ruined it.

Assclowns.

There should be a “St. George of Fentanyl” rule.

George was just rubbing it in a bit that the Republicans were hurt more than they hurt him when they ousted him.

Richie Torres, Democrat says he will introduce a Bill to change the rules, which is what Democrats do all the time. If they don’t like a rule they previously put in place, or that same rule comes back to bite them in the a$$, they claim the rule is “unfair” and want to change the rule again to suit their current need. They have a new rule for every occasion.
