Sam Donaldson was the third-largest recipient of wool and mohair payments in Lincoln County, N.M.— Over two years, $97,000 in subsidy checks have gone to Donaldson’s address in the Virginia suburbs of Washington... Donaldson also got $3,500 to defray livestock-watering costs…

Now there are plenty of other examples of absentee landlords receiving these farm subsidies, but it is particularly glaring that millionaire Sam Donaldson is getting this taxpayers’ money,” said D’Amato. “Sam Donaldson, give that money back.”

EWG research in 2020 showed 33 members of Congress, including Grassley, and their immediate family members collected a total of nearly $16 million in federal farm subsidies between 1995 and 2020.
A few years back I read that a huge percentage (close to 30%) of the subsidy money stays inside the beltway, even though they record it as going to IA or whatever state the congressman/senator is from.
And let's not fall for the Farm Bill helping farmers when 80% goes to SNAP of which 30% of that goes to the purchase of sugary drinks and non-farm items. Then if you have 4.5% of the Farm Bill budget going to commodities programs and 30% of that 4.5% going to congress, well, sigh.
