President Biden’s much-hyped State of the Union address had little to no effect on his popularity among Americans, according to a pair of post-speech polls out this week.
Only 37% of voters approved of Biden’s handling of the country in the aftermath of his address, according to a HarrisX State of the Union poll revealed Monday, while a USA Today/Suffolk survey published Wednesday showed 33% saying the speech positively impacted their view of the president.
Among those surveyed in the HarrisX poll, a majority (64%) said Biden should not seek another term, while 61% said he did not adequately address immigration and 59% said his speech only served to further divide the country.
A majority of respondents (57%) also said the speech raised concerns about Biden’s age and 54% said it raised questions about his fitness for office.
The USA Today/Suffolk poll also showed Biden having an approval rating of just 41% and a disapproval rating of 55% — a slight uptick from the last survey taken by the outlet in December, which showed a 39% approval rating and a 58% disapproval rating.
Biden and former President Donald Trump clinched the Democratic and Republican nominations, respectively, on Tuesday and the USA Today poll showed a tight race shaping up in November.
Trump had 40% of the prospective vote while Biden had 38%.
Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. scored 9% while fellow independent Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein each recorded 2%.

Like the Oscars, does anyone watch the State of the Union Address anymore?
This election is unlike any other.
BOTH people have already been president, and people need only decide which they preferred as president.
No amount of advertising, speeches or debates will change anything.
PLUS on top of that you have the Trump factor. I call it the .. “once you go Trump you never go back” factor. Once someone declares they now support Trump, they are attacked and are forced to defend their stance. This digs them in further and further and prevents them from ever going back.
It is the same reason that you can almost always trump a black conservative. They are attacked relentlessly and have to constantly defend why, and this digs them in deeper and deeper like Clarance Thomas.
But what if Joe screamed a bit louder would that help?
Only the excerpts and commentary the next day. It appears Joe’s crazed shouting scared away more voters than he attracted. Trump should demand that he take a drug test. America deserves to know if their president is dependent on drugs. Is it ethical for doctors to prescribe uppers to an old man? Seems to me that there would be a danger that he would stroke out.

Scale down or eliminate the Inauguration. Save Money. Don’t give the left an event to crash and manipulate. Don’t give the media the opportunity to bring up the crowd size nonsense.

If I was a democrat I would be wandering why my Party Leaders were wanting to put BACK in office a candidate who has done so poorly and is about at the end of his rope.
You have to wonder why, after pushing the sexual revolution (have a woman President) or at least another minority class candidate, the Democrat Party selected AN OLD WHITE GUY. And is doing so again.
Or , one could just buy another case of throat lozenges and a tube of Preparation H.
