The reputation of one of California's most illustrious country clubs is now at the center of a furious race storm.
Ultra-elite Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles - where Kamala Harris' husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is a member - has been branded a 'racist aristocracy' with 'depraved standards' in a blockbuster lawsuit filed in LA against the club and its leaders.
According to the no holds barred filing on Monday afternoon, 'Perhaps no institution embodies the racial disparities and resistance to change more starkly than the infamous Hillcrest Country Club.
'While every-day Angelenos have advocated for progress and equality, Hillcrest has itself maintained its core principle of exclusion, under the pretext of exclusivity.'
The club - known for having mostly white Jewish members, including Emhoff - has also been accused of nepotism and disregarding reports of sexual assault and drug abuse.
The suit was filed by attorney Alexander Winnick on behalf of his brother Matthew Winnick, 42, who, is 'party to a biracial marriage, where Plaintiff's wife and children have Hispanic heritage.' Hillcrest has been branded 'racist' by Matthew Winnick, who claims the club retaliated against him
Matthew Winnick, son of the late billionaire telecommunications tycoon Gar Winnick, claims the exclusive club and it's leaders retaliated against him when he complained about discriminatory behavior.
According to the suit, the club opened in 1920 originally as a country club 'for the Jewish community' and claims that for 67 years it 'refused admission to women and severely limited admission to non-Jewish members.'

The country clubs around Chicago used to be like this; there were several high-end clubs whose membership was predominantly Jewish. I don’t think they discriminated against any member applicant who was not Jewish, but the membership appeared to be geared toward those applicants who were very well-educated and professionally successful. In this, they didn’t differ from most other high-end clubs in the Chicago area.
Meh, they’re Dems, so any misstep is considered accidental and acceptable.

Donald Trump ended this exclusionary membership practice at Mar-a-Lago and pressured many of the other high-end country clubs in Palm Beach County to do the same. You never see this in the “press”, however.
Gee, what are the odds that the MSM will even ask a question about the Club? Oh no, not about the suit and its charges, OH NO, more like “how’s you golfing going Mr. Emhoff? See that’s the type of questions Lib get and of course answer with “golf games doing ok”. See, now the press can say “we asked about the golf club and that was answered”, “next topic!”.

That place sounds like the functional definition of what we USED to call ‘discrimination’.
“White or Jewish”? That could be seen as implying that those are two different groups. The club is largely Jewish and takes in some White but non-Jewish members. I guess it could hard to put that into a headline,
“A biracial marriage, where Plaintiff’s wife and children have Hispanic heritage?” Is that truly “biracial”? Or is it just that the wife’s side of the family spoke Spanish?

I never imagined I would be defending Kamala Harris, but if they don’t let non-whites in, then what is she doing there?
According to the article women are not allowed to be members.
That is why they started their own.
Who cares, if they want an exclusive membership it is their business.
When/where I grew up the only criteria for joining a country club was that you had to be perceived as having a large amount of money and a supercilious attitude towards anyone without it, and you had no issues with feeling up any young women who staffed the events.
