February 23 to March 2. N=1120. Data for Progress isn't bad considering it's a Democratic polling organization. In the Presidential contest, the poll finds Trump leading Biden 53 to 41 percent (Trump won the state by 10 points in 2020.) In the Congressional race, the poll finds a 50-50 toss up in the instant run-off. Two years ago, the Democrat won when many Republicans ranked the Democrat ahead of the other Republicans if their first choice didn't win. This "cut off your nose to spite your face" strategy didn't work so well. Two other poll questions demonstrate Democratic silliness. They think its a capitalist conspiracy for two large grocery store chains (Albertson and Kroger) to merge; when, the truth is, they're in fierce competition with Walmart and Costco, Amazon (owner of Whole Foods), other traditional chains of grocery stores such as Publix and Aldi, dollar stores, drug stores and convenience stories that sell grocery items, and restaurants. Usually, the Anti-Trust Division has mergers like this spin off stores that are in direct competition with each other so as to maintain competition in those particular markets. But, the Democrats, no, they're anti-capitalist. The other matter concerns the use of nets in commercial fishing. Democrats think we should eat bugs or go vegan. They don't think we should harvest fish from the ocean, no less raise livestock on land. Killing birds with wind turbines and solar farms, on the other hand, is A-OK, because that's saving the planet. For having so many college degrees, Democrats are pretty dumb when it comes to the real world.

Amply demonstrated over and over.

I can’t think of something so incredibly stupid as ranked choice voting.

It doesn’t take a deep mental dive to figure out that it’s nothing more than a Democrat-driven way to game the electoral system for their own benefit.

The people who, crudely put, get their rocks off the most about ranked choice voting are Democrat activists themselves. How do I know this? Look at any major city or suburb. The people pushing it are all Democrats along with a small smattering of “good government” Republicans.

About 10 years ago, I left the city of Minneapolis for the more GOP suburbs. In my last election there, I voted for Mayor. I voted for ONE candidate only. None of the rest were worthy.

Horse exhaust! With RCV I had no idea who my vote went to. Peltola only got in because that disengenous dipstick Palin jumped in at the last possible moment to split up the vote.

The poll shows all statewide office holders (Gov., both Senators, and Cong.) within the MOE of each other. BTW Trump is right there. As you and I both point out, she was only elected in 2022 because some Republicans didn’t know how to play the game of instant run-off.

With instant run-off you have to simultaneously say you’re better than your fellow Republican candidates and that any Republican is better than any Democrat. You can’t be never-Trump or its opposite never-Haley. It’s like a combination primary and general election. When the two things are months apart you can be a name-caller of fellow Republicans during the primary (”lyin’ Ted”, “Little Marco”, etc.) and hope that the people you name-called come home in the general election because, personal feelings aside, the fate of the nation is at stake.

Presuming our fellow Republicans in Alaska have learned this lesson, I don’t care that this poll says the race is tied. Our guy will win and their gal will lose in November.
