In the U.S., “capitalism” has effectively functioned predominantly as a form of corporate/government fascism since the establishment of the railroads in the 19th century.

Along the same lines of what I said, but the government also served the interests of Shipping companies and other such companies which were dependent on trade, as well as domestic manufacturers.

True, but the Southern Economy was also anti- free market.

Corporatism is BlackRock, MS, State Street, and other corporations who have the power to enslave and rule the world through financial extortion and debt.

You left out the pressure they can bring to bear on the government to induce *IT* to do their bidding. I seem to remember the US was involved in past military sabre rattling regarding sugar, rubber, etc.

So it would be a good idea to get these bad people out of our country? :)

The true Free Markey ideology is Manchester 1835 Liberalism, or what I call Jacksonianism.

“You left out the pressure they can bring to bear on the government to induce *IT* to do their bidding.”

Absolutely, and the biggest offender oil...

Thing is corporatism cannot be defended in any way like free market capitalism can.

They are not at all the same critter.

I believe I agree with you here. Jackson had the right idea about the national bank. He killed it.

“The bank, Mr. Van Buren, is trying to kill me. But I will kill it.”

“It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their own selfish purposes.”

Jackson was prescient.

No, they are not. Government collusion with Corporations is fascism.

communist, socialist and criminals.... all the same. They have no moral compass and are basically of the belief that they “deserve” to be the leaders and bosses of the citizens.

Has there ever been large-scale capitalism without government? Anarcho-capitalism is a utopian (or dystopian) myth. When you have large corporations, governments are going to intervene with the economy and corporations are going to intervene in the government.

What changed US capitalism was colleges and the change in values that the universities promoted. For the few capitalists and industrialists who didn’t go to college, wives and dinner parties turned them around.

Google, Facebook, Twitter etc were funded by the gov’t. These three committed stock fraud saying how many users they have.
Amazon was losing money until the feds gave them millions and then had their shipping subsidized. They just have to report all data they have on people to the federal agencies.
