BEJING -- China will start building this year its own version of StarLink, a satellite internet constellation using low Earth orbit, with plans of launching some 26,000 satellites to cover the entire world led by state-run companies.
Now that the military use of satellite-based communications systems for warfare in such places as Ukraine and Gaza is increasing, China will set up its own satellite network to compete with the U.S. as a "space power."

We should launch 134,000 satellites in response.
I wonder how many of those Chinese satellites will carry nuclear weapons and EMP devices?
That just creeps me out.
They appear to be copying some of SpaceX tech.

Will satellite megaconstellations weaken earth's magnetic field?
SpaceX is planning for 42,000 Starlink satellites. Once the Starship becomes operational, they should be able to reach this number. They have approx. 5500 in orbit now.

This is not a good time to be a recovering Luddite. 🥺
You’d have to be completely ignorant of physics to think any of those things.
China bluffing again. They have nowhere near the launch capacity to do something like that. Look at how many Falcon 9 launches have been required to launch, and then constantly replace Starlink satellites (because they only stay in those low orbits so long), and China has nothing remotely approaching the capability of SpaceX. And even SpaceX needs an unprecedented monster like Starship to fully realize the Starlink vision, and I guarantee China isn’t remotely close to doing something like that.

Pretty soon we can watch space collision on the deck and point out the different man made shooting stars.
Yeah, the Big Guy is probably selling the technology to Xi.
