For decades southern sheriffs and police departments were the enforcers of Jim Crow laws and segregation. It is no surprise that many black Americans distrust local and state law enforcement, and assume the worst motives when blacks are killed or abused (in reality or false belief) via police (mis)conduct. Ironically this distrust prevents law enforcement from protecting blacks citizens from black criminals, which further discounts the value of police interactions.
When a local population perceives that the police are slaughtering its members, then the legislature prevents locally elected governments from constraining such abuse, it is hardly surprising that leftist politicians would exploit the situation rather than propose workable solutions.
I get it that state officials do not want to allow localities to emulate Haiti. There needs to be a combined propaganda campaign to promote the benefits of the rule of law, and institutional methods/programs/reforms to prevent the reality and perception of LE abuses.
And that is why we need a new Pinochet.

These Democrat have no idea what true slavery is like! They may have ancestors that were slaves but they haven’t ever been slaves themselves. They will never be slaves. It is an insult to the American people when they declare that they feel like slaves when they are in positions of power in the government and they don’t get their way. They are telling the rest of us that they will encourage riots because they didn’t get their way. They want us all to be afraid if we don’t let them have their way. It’s how they operate.
