TUCSON, Arizona - An Arizona migrant shelter that has housed thousands of asylum seekers plans to halt most operations in two weeks when funding from Washington runs out, a problem for towns along the border where officials fear a surge in homelessness and extra costs.
Arizona's Pima County, which borders Mexico, has said that at the end of the month its contracts must stop with Tucson's Casa Alitas shelter and services that transport migrants north from the border cities of Nogales, Douglas and Lukeville.
Pima County Administrator Jan Lesher said the county cannot afford the roughly $1 million per week that previously would have been covered by federal funds.
Congress faces a Friday deadline to fund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which pays for migrant services, along with other federal agencies. Current money could be temporarily extended as a stop-gap measure to keep DHS and other federal agencies running.
But additional funding for the shelter and transportation services has been caught in broader political battles about illegal migration and government spending, and Congress is at an impasse, largely due to election-year politics.

I’m not sure why anyone would have an obligation to support illegal parasites coming here. If they’re here illegally then let them figure out how to get their own food and shelter. If someone breaks into your house do you have any obligation to let him stay and feed and clothe him? If someone breaks into your country likewise?
Talk about deviating from your mission, your very raison d’être, your reason for being. The Dept of Homeland Security is ABETTING illegals, ignoring the fact that they are here ILLEGALLY, paying for their stay, ignoring the manifest crimes, ignoring all the narcos, mules, and traffickers among them.
When our core SECURITY agency completely ignores our security, we are in deep doo-doo.
Your estimation that they’ll be out of office is optimistic. Democrat voters almost NEVER vote anything else and the hard core (about 30-36%) won’t change no matter how bad the country gets. There are multiple reasons: they don’t pay taxes so they don’t see it affecting them. They work for the government so it provides expanded promotional opportunities. They work for one of the many NGOs that are organizing this invasion. They’re just plain stupid and believe the climate change hoax. Etc.

Maybe what Arizona needs is more democrats in office. That’ll fix it.
Just what are these interlopers “seeking asylum” from, and why can’t that be dealt with at the source rather than them coming here? “Asylum seekers” is leftist word salad to make them feel better about suddenly noticing all the strange looking people in their neighborhood usurping their victim status and getting all the government handouts they once got. “Asylum seekers” is a term devised to shame anyone opposed to this invasion. Same with “they just want a better life”. It’s all a scam.
Eventually the migrant shelter racket will be exposed as democrat money laundering. Grifter cronyism.
