Statement by High Representative Josep Borrell on famine in Gaza “Hunger cannot be used as a weapon of war. What we are seeing is not a natural hazard but a manmade disaster, and it is our moral duty to stop it.“

Five months into the Gaza crisis, the results of the updated Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) assessment released today indicate the unfolding of the worst possible forecast for Gaza.

Gaza is already facing famine, with 100% of people estimated to be acutely food insecure, according to the IPC. In Gaza's Northern Governorates, 70% of the population are facing imminent famine.

In the centre and southern governorates, 50% of people face catastrophic food insecurity conditions. The situation is projected to deteriorate fast in the next weeks and months and famine is likely to also affect the South.

This is unprecedented. No IPC analysis has ever recorded such levels of food insecurity anywhere in the world.

Life-threatening levels of acute malnutrition have risen at an alarming rate since the last report, and we are already witnessing with horror the death of children due to starvation.

Only an Antisemite can call attention to this atrocity I suppose.

Hunger cannot be used as a weapon of war. What we are seeing is not a natural hazard but a manmade disaster, and it is our moral duty to stop it.

Over 30,000 people have already died due to the conflict, a large part of them children, and the death toll could rapidly increase due to starvation or diseases.

The situation has gone beyond catastrophic. There is an absolute imperative to act now.

While we are exploring all possible means of aid delivery, including airdrops and maritime corridors, these do not replace the most viable and effective solution which is the full and unconditional opening of land access.

An urgent expansion of existing access points for land deliveries, and the opening of additional access routes, is needed to secure impactful food assistance for the entire population of Gaza, the provision of specialised medical aid to address malnutrition and the implementation of public health measures.

We urge Israel to allow free, unimpeded, and safe humanitarian access to all people in need and to cooperate with UNRWA and other UN agencies and other humanitarian actors involved in the humanitarian response including by issuing requisite visas and other permits in a timely manner. The EU recognises their essential work and remains committed to their safety and the assurance of unhindered access to those in need.”

They brought it upon themselves.

They supported HAMAS.

They cheered when the 9-11 attacks happened.

There are no ‘innocents’ there.

There is no such thing as a ‘Moderate Muslim’.

They could have made Gaza a vacation hotspot.

Instead they turned it into a shithole of hate....................

I would bet the employees of the IPC doing the assessment are well fed and plump bellied. Did crops not get planted this year? Where did food come from last year?

Hunger cannot be used as a weapon of war.

What an idiotic statement. If they would change it to: Hunger should not be used as a weapon of war, it would make sense.

This begs the question: Who is using "hunger" as a weapon of war here? Obviously Hamas could simply give up and surrender. No more problems getting food to "non-combatants" in Gaza, whoever those might be.

And, as I recall, the Gazans broke the windows and destroyed the vast system of hot houses for growing vegetables when they got control of the area.

A dirty diaper on a starving Palestinian infant is “bringing this upon herself”! What other terrorist act is a four month old capable of? We are watching the suicide of Israel. People who blindly support Israel, as I did up until 90 days ago, are only helping to kick the stool out from under Israel’s feet.

We urge Israel to

They might try urging Hamas to surrender so that food can flow without Hamas taking most of it.

Hamas deliberately steals the food, then sells some of it to its own people. Blaming Israel by calling this an act of war only rewards the Hamas perfidy.

Hamas did not want Gazans having any independent source of income, which did not depend on Hamas handing out foreign aid money.

My God, you support the mass starvation of children to accomplish Netanyahu’s goal. A goal, the complete destruction of Hamas, that can never be accomplished. You are graduating from the support of ethnic cleansing to the support of genocide. This is stunning to behold among a supposedly civilized group of people.

The notion of allowing the German people to starve in the coming winter was openly discussed in the summer of 1945.

There were voices on the Left in the USA didn’t if Germans would die in the first winter following the war.

The victorious USA had seen the horrors of the Holocaust but opted to feed the Germans and even keep them warm that winter.

General George S. Patton on the side of feeding and keeping the Germans warm.

Of course what’s important to remember in this situation is that hostages are being held in Gaza.

Mr. Borrell should be demanding their release much more strongly.

Once hostages are out it will be easier to help the suffering in Gaza that is a reality of war.

Hamas is literally stealing the supplies. One must ask why they’d do this to their own people. You are correct - most of these folks want a second coming of the holocaust...after all they elected terrorists to run their lives. And they’re shocked when war erupts (again) and their lives are ruined. I have very little sympathy anymore. The Palestinians couldve had peace decades ago...they prefer pain and suffering.

It’s not a crisis. It’s war against a nation that struck first.

Statement by High Representative Josep Borrell on famine in Gaza “Hunger cannot be used as a weapon of war. What we are seeing is not a natural hazard but a manmade disaster, and it is our moral duty to stop it.“

Translation:
We appreciate all that Hamas has done for the Cause, but many are without food and other necessities, especially guns and ammo, so we are going to do out moral best to blame everything on the hated Jews and stop their genocide on Hamas.

"What other terrorist act is a four month old capable of?"

The murderer/rapist/baby-bakers of 10/7 were infants when their parents were dancing in the streets on 9/11/2001. If Israel slaughtered our common enemies then, there never would have been a 10/7.

There's a reason Rome hasn't had any trouble from Carthage lately.

It is stunning to see you swallow the Hamas propaganda completely.

Information warfare at its best.

Not so hard to do when backed up by most "news" outlets.
