A city in Pennsylvania embraces immigrants as tensions over 'sanctuary' policies rise across the country

Officials in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, recently codified into law city policies that have been in effect since 2019 limiting cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

The all-Democrat Lancaster City Council unanimously passed an ordinance last month preventing local police and any city official from inquiring about a person’s immigration status unless it's required by state or federal law or by court order, or reasonably necessary in the course of a criminal investigation. It also prohibits them from providing any information to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that could result in civil or noncriminal immigration enforcement actions.

Such “sanctuary” policies have been at the center of the national debate over immigration and border security ahead of the 2024 presidential election in November.

But the debate didn't stop city leaders from taking measures they say ensures that Lancaster remains a welcoming city where immigrants, asylum-seekers and refugees can feel comfortable seeking city services and reporting crimes, according to Jaime Arroyo, the council's vice president.

“This ordinance wouldn’t jeopardize anyone’s safety. City police will still cooperate with ICE if it’s mandated on a state or federal level but won’t go out of their way to ask for documentation,” Arroyo told NBC-affiliate WGAL-TV in Lancaster.

Immigrant rights advocates who rallied in support of the Trust Act said it allows residents, regardless of status, to feel like they can "more fully participate in civic society without fear" and feel safe when reporting crimes to police, using health and social services for their families or enrolling their children in school.

Lancaster (city) is already a shithole:

Demogrpahics and election results for Lancaster (city), PA)

Hispanics (mainly P.R.'s, not Mexicans -- yet) are a plurality and Whites account for less than 40% of the population and dropping rapidly. The Amish (and anyone else) in the surrounding area stay the hell away from the city if they value their safety.

Not coincidentally, the city's Democrat voting % has risen dramatically in recent years. The county as a whole is undergoing an invasion of undesirables, but is not yet at the point where it's going to flip to (commie) red. At the current rate, that could easily happen within the next decade or two. All of eastern PA is in the impending danger zone if it hasn't already been destroyed, like Philly, many of its suburbs, Allentown, Scranton, Harrisburg, etc.

Lancaster city is trying to attract middle and upper middle class people to apartments that are being built downtown. Good luck with that.

Pennsylvania is a dying state. Something like 45 of the state’s 67 counties lost population between the 2010 and 2020 census years.

What’s happening in Lancaster is the same routine you’ve seen elsewhere in PA. American-born white people relocate to other states or pass away as these tired old cities turn into dumps, and “migrants” are the only ones who would ever want to live there. Rinse and repeat.

If, heaven forbid, the Biden regime should steal another election this year, then Abbott will need to start focusing on shipping illegals to democrat controlled cities in Republican controlled states, to boost the states’ populations for the 2030 census. We won’t want to artificially boost the populations of California or New York before the census since illegal aliens are counted for purposes of allocating congresscritter seats. After the census we can start shipping them to democrat states again.

If Trump is elected then Abbott can start shipping them back home. Once mass deportations begin, most will self deport and try again whenever the democrats seize power again.

Rust belt has been abandoned pretty much since Clinton... Nafta crushed it... Trump years helped, but 4 years of Biden have put it right back on the downward path.

PA is going to be interesting this fall. Trump should handily win the state, but PA GOP was a willing participant in the 2020 criminality, and unlike WI and MI which have made structural changes, GOP here did nothing... so While Trump should and would win PA in a fair election, the fact the GOP of PA let so much illegality and fraud go on in 2020 and did nothing about it, Trump will need a 5 point lead here before I would feel safe he can win.. unbelievable the fraud they let happen here.. and the GOP was an active participant in it.

Other big story is that their library will be hosting a "Drag Queen Story Hour"

Everything you need to know about the PA GOP can be learned from that jackass Mastriano ... who ran around as a candidate for governor in 2022 promising to "fix" the state's stupid mail-in ballot provisions that he himself had voted into law as a state senator.

I don't think Clinton or Biden have had anything to do with the demise of the Rust Belt. Time and internal political stupidity crushed it.

As one Congressional representative from Ohio pointed out at a conference I attended a few years ago: "It's not 'globalism' that's the problem when a company closes down an old steel mill in Ohio and opens a new one in Arkansas or Texas."

I can confirm this. My parents lived outside the city. It went downhill starting in the 1990’s, probably earlier. The German Club left the city because of the increasing crime.

The fact is there are truly demographic groups in the USA and in the world that will mostly never succeed and make themselves into a better more civilized society where others want to live. Instead they will typically make a society that others want to leave.

They make their own bed and others do not want in it. That’s the way it is. It isn’t based on racism, it is based on survival and desire to stay away from crime, trash and bad behavior and defective DNA.
