Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson raises eyebrows with comment that First Amendment “hamstrings” government

In a debate Monday at the Supreme Court challenging the Biden administration’s alleged coordination with Big Tech to censor certain messages, one justice raised eyebrows in her comments about the government’s relationship with the First Amendment.

The case stems from a lawsuit brought by Republican-led states Missouri and Louisiana that accused high-ranking government officials of working with giant social media companies “under the guise of combating misinformation” that ultimately led to censoring speech on topics that included Hunter Biden’s laptop, COVID-19 origins and the efficacy of face masks — which the states argued was a First Amendment violation.

In nearly two hours of oral arguments, the justices debated whether the Biden administration crossed the constitutional line, and whether its outreach efforts with private companies amounted to permissible persuasion or encouragement versus illegal coercion or threats of retaliation.

“It’s got these big clubs available to it, and so it’s treating Facebook and these other platforms like their subordinates,” Justice Samuel Alito said. But Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson took a different approach.

“Your view has the First Amendment hamstringing the federal government in significant ways in the most important time periods,” she told the lawyer representing Louisiana, Missouri and private plaintiffs.

“The government actually has a duty to take steps to protect the citizens of this country… by encouraging or even pressuring platforms to take down harmful information,” she said.

In early 2022 I read carefully through the transcripts of the oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court for the legal challenges for the Biden administration's COVID vaccine mandates.

By the time I got about 10% of the way through them, I realized that the typical U.S. Supreme Court justice is dumber than my high school classmates who graduated in the bottom third of the class. And the dumbest Supreme Court justices are mildly retarded.

Rank incompetence.

Every effort must be made to portray her as being stupid, embarrassing incompetent and ignorant.

A House resolution attesting to this fact would be in order. We need to ramp up the shaming.

Jesse Jackson would "cut her nuts off" (she's not a biologist, so what does she know?).

“Sharp as a marble this one.”

She doesn’t have to be sharp. She’s black, she’s leftist as they come. She parrots the chosen woke narrative. And her side stole the last election. She figures it’s smooth-sailing from here on. If there is any justice, sanity or integrity still remaining in this world... she figures wrong.

The comment about the first amendment hamstringing the government was not made by Jackson per the snip of the article posted. She seems to be agreeing with everyone here. Why is the headline in direct conflict with the body of the article? Looks like fake news.

I thought it impossible, but the addition of Kenji to the SCOTUS makes her the ugliest justice by far. All she needs is a spear in one hand and a bone through her nose.

Let her speak. Her ignorance will out her. She fails to understand that the constitution is written specifically to hamstring the government. That is its purpose.

It's not supposed to be an authoritarian speed-bump.

She’s in that job because her handlers need someone dumb enough to listen to them without questioning them.

I think she filled out one of those ads that were on the backs of match books...Either way, there should be a real serious investigation into her credentials and school records, there is no way in hell she passed the bar on her own.

Man, this country/constitution is on life support.

My opinion has always been we are on the downward arc of this country being relevant. I never thought i would see this country go downhill so quick. I didn’t think id be alive to see this country destroy itself from within.
