Ohio and Michigan have open primary systems.

Mi is not technically open. When you vote in the primary you have to ask for an R ballot or a D ballot.

Why was that ever made that way to begin with? (Open primary)
What possible advantage does that confer to Republicans? I see only disadvantages.
How impossibly difficult is it to change to a closed primary instead? Not just Ohio, but all US states that have open Republican primaries. Have we not considered it because it is an advantage to GOPee uniparty Rommney type Republican lite types?
Perhaps along with GOTV efforts and ballot harvesting, we should also CLOSE all the open Republican primaries?
